I am wanting to keep this truck lower than most of my builds. This has lead to the decision of finding a HP 78-79 F*Rd Dana 60. I found a clean one local to me and bought it. He also had a F*Rd np205. They share the same big bearing as the Cummins Np205. Thus, I can swap input shafts to change this one from 31 spline to the 29 spline.

I also ordered a new adapter since my dodge passenger clocking ring would now not work for my new setup. I was lucky enough to have found a gentleman who had a whole package including the adapter, input shaft (29 spline), gaskets, rear mount, etc. that he never used on a project. So I was able to pick that up for about 1/2 price.

Nice parts! Those 78-9 Ford D60s are getting tough to find!

I paid way to much for the Ford d60 I got it was really rough but all I could find. It was still 2 hrs away.

Re: Project: 1972 K30 Crew Cab Duramax

I agree fellas, they are up there in price. This one came from a running and driving truck. It was in great shape, surface rust on the dust shields. It has 3:55 gears, so I'll have to regear to 3:73 if I end up using the 11.5 AAM.
Like i said, I am hoping I won't have a need for a huge lift kit to run the drivetrain. Thoughts? This should keep the exhaust exiting on one side and the driveshaft on the other.

I have a 4" lift on mine (88 c-30 converted) but made a new trans tunnel also. It's been a long time since cab was on frame but I think it all fit once lol.

Just some more truck jewelry. Finally found my last set of wheels for this thing. It's what I originally wanted, 17x10 slots, and NOS Dana 60 Spicer's.

Love the wheels. I wasn't aware slots were available in 17x10. Are you sure they're not 16.5's? Where can I get a set?

Nice find on the lock outs, and sweet wheels! Those look like they're new. Someone must have started reproducing them lately?

Available 2 weeks ago...first known set sold. Yes, 17x10 US Indy Mags.

Are the lockouts from a 78 or 79 K30? I haven't seen any of those before. Just the D44 style.

Hey Ryan, yes I believe they used these 77-80 on GM and 78-79 Ford's. Supposed to be stronger than most aftermarket hub's. Rock Crawlers love them and most have been scarred up and well used.

Probably some 315/70/17 or 35x12.50x17 Toyo MT. It will be awhile, but wanted to make sure I locked in the wheels before being discontinued. Seems I am always to late on most 8 lug style wheels.

Wow, finally some slots that are not 16.5's. I know you wanted my M/T Challenger wheels, but those are going to look perfect! Are they going to offer any other sizes that you know of?

Re: Project: 1972 K30 Crew Cab Duramax

I think there might be a 17x 9" option Joe, but I have not seen a 16" or bigger than the 17" option. They already make 6 lugs. I was excited when I found out these were finally an option. Wasn't going to take a chance on an out of stock or them getting discontinued.

Trevor,

Wow, those wheels look great. I'm happy someone is making them. It's nice to see a new, period correct wheel option for our trucks.

Curious, are they clear coated, or raw?

Thanks!

Ryan, the Dana 60 in my truck is from a '79 K30 that originally was one of the maintenance trucks at Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. The hubs are the same as the ones pictured. They work well, not really beat up, the plastic dials are a little faded.
I can't wait to see the finished build on this truck, it's gonna be cool as hell.

Nope, not me. What FB page(s) do guys with '67-'72 go on? I'd like to check them out.

I think it's labeled like this website, but with spaces between Chevy and trucks
