Love that truck Good Sport. Is the grille a replacement, or did you paint the original?

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
I have to say that this thread is packed with great links! That VIN decoder is really nice. Not to mention the fine trucks pictured in it! I was looking for information on the web for my other rusty junk and this site jumped up. I'm hooked! Read this thread from the first post. My parts runner is a 95 long bed not a sport truck. I do thank everyone who contributed all this great stuff! I did not know what a 4L60-E was until I read this. I thought they were all 700R4's. I guess that is what I get for working for a German car manufacturer, lost in euro spec.

I'm new on the site, but I've got many good ideas from this site. I have a 91 K1500 Sport. I used this site to find the BYP code and I was able to confirm it being a sport. Just wanted to thank you all for the good info on these trucks:metal:
The first pics are when i first got it and before I started tinkering with it. I was in a rear ender in September but I avoided reporting it because the guy who hit me was a buddy and i got 2k for the damages. I got the frame pulled and I just have to move the bed over and fix what needs fixed there. I'm not to mechanically inclined so its always me and dad working on it. |
Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Welcome to the board! That's a good looking truck.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Thank You! It's my pride and joy. It's just a 4.3 5spd. First standard I've driven and I love it.:chevy:

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
I'm looking to buy this exact truck, project or not. If anyone can steer me in the right direction or keep your eyes and ears open it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
How about decals for my truck. I just went thru the RPO codes and it is a Sierra GT. I wonder if that makes them worth any more? Either way I kinda figured it was a sport model due to the Red paint, chrome wheels like the 454SS, and color matched bumper, bucket seats, etc.

Sadly, mine will be going up for sale soon. I just bought a 2001 Sierra C3 (another rare truck, only made for 1 year) and can't keep both, as I still need a 3/4 ton 4X4 for trailer towing and wood cutting. Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Great truck. Do not say JUST a 4.3. I would love to afford a nice 90's version short box 4X4 with a 5 speed. It then becomes a perfect daily driver. Yours has the wheels mine is supposed to have, but, oh well.]
Well the six banger is what it is, my first truck was a 85 k10 with a 400sbc. It had power but sucked gas. My 91 has lil power( here in WV we got a lot of Mts to deal with and it just falls flat on it face.) But I can drive circles around all of my buddies because I do better on MPG than they do. Theres always a trade off between no power/good mpg or vice versa. But I do love the truck for what it is and don't have intentions on getting rid of it. Not many of these kind of trucks around here and the truck gets me where I need to go from Point A to Point B.:metal: |
Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
i actually signed up to this forum because of this thread. I stumbled across it looking for information on what exactly the sport package is
I have a 95 gmc k1500 very nicely optioned out extended cab,Sport package, z-71 package, 4x4, G80 limited slip rear end, power everything inside, A/C, Leather steering wheel, factory tach, driver convenience package, power windows and door locks, cruse control, Abs breaks, bucket seats. 7.73 gears, 350ci v8 and auto trans. factory tinted glass. just to name a few I purchased the truck with several things wrong with it. had to put a transmission radiator fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit in it. bought it with the intention of re-selling it. but now that i have it all ready to go and listed im kinda hoping it doesn't sell. Here is my sport http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps48474f50.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...pse764fb35.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps013cb352.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psf92b2af4.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psce854842.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps74816896.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps9b922bed.jpg here is my other gmc 8.1l alision trans 4.10 rears, specked out pretty nice as well. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...1/DSCF2071.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...1/DSCF2068.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...1/DSCF2065.jpg |
Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Love that red. The body looks to be in great condition. Welcome to the forum.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Thanks for sharing and contributing to the history of these trucks, Didn't know they were availamle in extended cab. Yours is a real nice example, and I like the red too. Looks like the original owner got into the option list pretty deep, ordered what he wanted and wound up with a very nice truck to pass on. Glad to see it's in the hands of someone who appreciates it, and I hope it dosen't sell either.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
the truck was well taken care of it only had two owners before me. the original owner then the original owners brother bought it then i bought it. the truck spent most its life in Georgia. the body is in really good condition. esp for factory original paint, it has a few rock chips and a paint blemish on the hood. if i keep the truck it will get a little more tlc to get the few minor blemishes it does have fixed up. I have been having fun driving it around. the interior is in great shape as well and cant believe how comfortable the seats are. I told the woman when I bought it I was going to re-sell it I have to try before i get to keep it. of course she doesn't need to know that my asking price is above blue book value ;-)

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
There was a white extended cab GT in my area for sale awhile back. Flareside 4X4. But with a blown motor. And the price was to high. Yours does look good in red, although I will never own a red vehicle ever again. I was hit 5 times in 4 years. Twice when I was stopped. Car eventually had 6 different shades of red on it even if it was ever so subtle.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Here's my Sierra GT. Wish I still had the decals and the the factory emblems previous owner must have removed them.
Soon it will be worthy of the GT portion of the name. Waiting for my 383. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps9c8c683e.jpg |
Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
I had one of these I bought back in 95. never could find any info on them until now. don't know if it ever had the BYP code but its listed as a sports graphic package along with the new sport. I loved it cause it was so different! mine was in Scottsdale trim. steel wheels, non ac, rubber flooring, manual locks/windows,305, auto, 3:73 open rear, snow plow prep package. anyone else have, had or seen one? I've seen 3 others back then, 2 being solid color and 1 being sport 2 tone(1 color on top and another the rest of way down) like mine was. haven't seen one since. would love to see some real pics of another.

Good looking truck OrangeAnimal!
Also here is an ebay link for some decals. Sierra GT Decal Package Set |
Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Thanks John C, I did see those on ebay. I was hoping to find someone not on there to purchase them from but I may have to go that route.
In other news, I sold the 454SS wheels. I may grow to regret that choice but I picked up some Impala SS wheels and will be mounting those up soon. Going with 255/50-17 up front and 275/50 on the back. Also my 383 should be arriving on Thursday so I am stoked about that. Now it will be a "Sport" truck. Should run pretty good. Still haven't ordered a transmission yet though. Choices are tough. |
Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
My 90 Sport just got rear ended and the battle with the insurance company is never ending. They wont compare it to another sport becaue they can't find any so they feel like the truck is worthless. Anyways do any of you guys on here have the optioned engine block heater on your trucks? I looked it up and it said it was a canadian option but the truck was built in fort wayne IN
