My new dually, I've been polishing it up one panel at a time, I'm pretty surprised how nice it's turning out.
Plans are build a steel flat bed and get the slant nose installed ASAP, future plans include big bore Alcoas and a 6BT http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...pstaj9j7hm.jpg On the ride into work this morning http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...psng8w8laj.jpg |

Good looking truck!
Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, it appears the truck's hubs are eight lug, and the Alcoa's have ten lug. Are the truck's lugs 1/2" or 9/16"? |

Its will take some machine work too get the Alcoas to fit, I'll swap the 1/2 out for 9/16 and buy these adapters, theres a thread showing the machine work thats involved, I just can't find it right now. I may swap 73-87 running gear under this truck. |

Got a wild hair and cut the wood flatbed and hitch off my truck, took about 30 mins to remove then 45 mins to pressure wash, I did this so I can replace the cherry bombs with flowmasters and clean up the wiring before I start on the flatbed next week, flat bed will be 10'x7' steel frame with T&G wood deck and a slide out to extend the hauling capability to 15', I'll post picks of the bed when I get started on it.

Re: 1 ton dually pics post
Just something to think about.....if you put in tongue and groove decking with a steel frame around it, contrasts in temperature, and humidity may cause a problem later on because the wood won't have room to expand and the potential for buckling exists. In addition to that, if your going to use it, what will you use as skid strips?
I'm not trying to rain on your parade, just don't want you to go to all the expense and time to build the deck and have it disappoint you later. It needs to "breath" and be able to expand and contract. Even totally sealed the wood will want to move and you're dealing with a much larger area than a pickup bed. It's going to be a good looking outfit when you're done! |

Trying to get this thing done, my goal was to have it done by the end of this weekend, unfortunately paying jobs keep getting in the way. I've tried to get at least one thing done on it every day, even if its just a quick 10 min job.
I cut maybe 12" off the frame, I like the short 10' bed on the long wheel base. Attachment 1377795 I'm going to try and get the lights cut in tomorrow after work. Attachment 1377796 Wanted to do something a little different for the gas cap, so a pop up flush mount gas cap got tig welded in. Attachment 1377797 |
