Check out my build thread (signature) or the link above for my idea about Version 2.0 for my brake upgrade using Spyntec hubs...

I think you just have to call them. Hopefully they still offer it. Once my Blazer is finished I can sell off some spare parts including the brakes....and knowing that the brackets really available will help.

Re: Let's Build A 1 Ton Crew Cab 4x4

Exactly, if you have a spare set I may be interested but I would need those brackets. I was going to start designing my own until I found those. Then I was like well since it already exits then blam couldn't find them for sale. I will see about giving them a call or something.

Right now though the main concern is finding a solution for the front. I don't want to swap to ford knuckles and use their brakes but they seem a lot better than stock at the least. I am not sure what options I have.

Hey Nasty,I am attaching 2 pictures of the crew I am building,73 3+3.
Look at the narrow pillar between the doors, and see if you can tell me what went there in those two holes, they look like a factory hole.
I took this truck apart 20+ years ago,and don't remember what was there.
Thanks

Re: Let's Build A 1 Ton Crew Cab 4x4

I'll look into it but that's a first for me. I can't say they couldn't be factory or dealer but they look like someone added those holes. I'll do some investigating.

On another note,I have heard of Saluda NC,where is Saluda SC?
Saluda NC has the steepest railroad grade in the US ,4.3 percent

Re: Let's Build A 1 Ton Crew Cab 4x4

Saluda SC is in the midlands. About 40 miles west of Columbia SC. Super small town in the woods :)

Re: Let's Build A 1 Ton Crew Cab 4x4

Not much for updates.. It was a very busy weekend. Hopefully I will get my revised engine xmember on order this week.

I will be picking up a 1 ton crew cab 4x4 front frame section next weekend though. It should make the next crew cab 4x4 swap much easier, but mostly I will be jigging it up to make some more prototype parts off of :).

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...psnvmgsuxx.jpg

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...psnqk2s26j.jpg

I also found another NV4500 swapper who didn't want to use the AA conversion bellhousing that is around $500 total. He had 4" lift but said even at stock height he said it would never come close to having the driveshaft hitting the bellhousing on the crew cab.

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/chevy...g-build-3.html

So I started to look at ways for me to do it, one hurdle was the plastic line. I didn't really like the swagelock piece that he used...

This one.. https://www.swagelok.com/en/catalog/...-500-6-4&item=

So I went to look at the factory Nv4500 clutch parts.

So... The plastic line has a metal line... Idk why I thought it was all plastic! Problem solved.

Use this and make an AN line/SS braided line to the Wilwood Master and voila right?

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...psd2suycww.jpg

I guess we shall see!

mcmlxix I contacted the people who made the bracket to bolt onto 14BFF to convert to newer style brakes and guess what. Their volume wasn't high enough so they quit selling the part!! So ****. Still trying to work out what I am going to do for brakes.

I'll have to do some digging for the parts list, but we did a NV3500 swap in my buddies 88 Suburban using the stock 1994 slave cylinder with that adapter, the stock squarebody master with an AN adapter and a custom line. Worked quite well.

Looks like I deleted the parts list. But the adapter for the master is easy to find, and you already found the slave adapter.

Awesome that is the info I need to know. I am dying to get some parts on order and some progress going.. I have some vacation I have to use before the end of the year so I would love to have a parts pile built up by then!

Found a guy on facebook last night who was showing me alternative ways to mount turbo in the square... Really interesting, would love to keep air box as is and add an intercooler for sure. Thoughts?

That's the beauty with turbos...you can mount them wherever you want. You should do it like this...

Finally sourced a bracket that allows me to bolt on brakes from 08-13 Dodge 2500/3500.. So 14.125" rotors and dual piston calipers on order soon! Slip on rotors for GM dana 60 kingpin. Woohoo! I ordered my set today, wasn't really cheap but I think they will be worth it. Hopefully they will arrive next week.

They list a dana 60 big brake kit but if you call and talk sweet to them they will sell you just the brackets. They are around $200 for a set + shipping.

Here is a thread I found that lead me to them.

Axles disassembled. Got to order some rotors so I can see what OD the hubs have to be turned down to.

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...pstcu2hejc.jpg

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...pssaiadflg.jpg

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...ps476cxqcn.jpg

I did pick up some used Dodge front calipers.

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...psxkozsndy.jpg

I also picked up the front frame portion. I was unaware that they implemented a kind of stock steering brace at some point.

http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...pshzr4ebkq.jpg

Anyone know the OD of the rear 14BFF hub? I forgot to measure and I need to order rear rotors from a 2500HD. Well they had AAM 11.5 and AAM 10.5, the 11.5 went under duramaxs and 3500s and the 10.5 went under gas 1500hd/2500/2500HD. Apparently the rotors are different. I think I will be fine running the 10.5 rear rotor which is a little shorter than the 11.5 and the hole for the hub is quite a bit smaller.

I am going to be modeling up the rear adapter bracket soon. Awaiting the front mounting brackets. Slip on rotors here I come!!

So... I have the fronts disassembled... So now would be a good time for kingpins, which seem fine but if they aren't too expensive may as well replace. More importantly though, the ujoints in the "halfshafts" of the dana 60 look like they are from 1979 so... How hard are they to replace? May as well do that while its torn down.

Are you going with the slip on style rotors mentioned in the other thread or the bolt on style?

Slip on front and rear mounting in front of the hub not behind it. Front rotor is 14.125" in OD with a nice giant dual piston caliper. It won't clear 15" wheels but that doesn't bother me. A lot better brakes which are a lot easier to service and found in parts stores everywhere. :)

Yeah I've read through all the links you've posted and I'm interested in upgrading my brakes too but don't think I have a slip on option.

NastyBuzzard 11-07-2016 11:45 AM

Re: Let's Build A 1 Ton Crew Cab 4x4

Why would you not have slip on option?
