I have some updates to share. Been working on the doors and painted the grille and white part of the grille support. Also painted a bunch of interior parts.

It was a fantastic week. A little on the hot side but I kept cool under my shade and big fan blowing on me. I can't wait for some cooler weather. My basic recipe was painting and bodywork in the morning before it got hot and then stripping and welding and grinding after lunch when it was too hot to paint. The passenger door need to be blocked one more time and might be ready for paint. I have another parts order coming tomorrow. Have the patch and brace for the driver fender so I can get it repaired next and some new hardware for putting the grille back together, the Chevrolet decals for the grille, and some more misc interior parts. Hope to get the column all back together this week and installed. Bret |

So I started on Monday to start this thing and after 2 lower radiator hoses leaking and then the weep hole in the water pump leaking. I had to order a new pump. Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
This is all so good to see.
I know what you mean with running out of steam. Side projects help though. I restored a 63 VW beetle 25 years ago and ran out of steam just as I bolted the front and rear bumpers back on, fortunately all that was left was the hubcaps. My life is a bit screwed right now, but I do look forward to phase two of my trucks build, there may also be a phase 3,4,5 but that OK too. |
Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Have few updates for the truck. I will be honest I ran out of motivation to work on her but after not doing anything for 11 months I finally got some "Mojo".
I lost my storage spot for my old car so I had to move it home to my garage. This is what brought my mojo back. She wasn't running. In order for her to take my wife's parking spot she had to run and drive so I could move it around. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4342/...c0c43bd5_b.jpg20170817_103528 by bjohnson388, on Flickr She barely fit. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4363/...7d076ecb_b.jpg20170817_111816 by bjohnson388, on Flickr I remedied that by tucking the bumpers. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4391/...c4d4275f_b.jpg20170903_143356 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4336/...d44561c6_b.jpg20170903_115038 by bjohnson388, on Flickr I got her running and driving so she can be moved around. Still needs a new trans. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4383/...d8e5bb0a_b.jpg20170910_121528 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Ok on to the truck. Started off by installing some parts I got for Xmas last year. New dual horns, chrome TC cover and the front brake lines. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4442/...831bdf08_b.jpg20170907_190823 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Also bought new rear shoes, MC, and rear axle brake line. Took me 2 hours to locate this box of parts for the rear brakes. They have been patiently waiting in this box for 3 years now. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4336/...ff8db176_b.jpg20170907_161151 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4344/...991c9686_b.jpg20170907_161113 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4364/...c842a478_b.jpg20170917_105415 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4385/...4308f379_b.jpg20170914_144425 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4401/...1089206c_b.jpg20170914_144344 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Next I finished up the passenger door. It is about 95% there. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4358/...c4542ab3_b.jpg20170910_140818 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4352/...0247cae0_b.jpg20170910_161746 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Door installed on truck. It fits pretty good. I just watched on youtube how to get that lower corner pushed in some more. Will give that a try when I get a chance. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4404/...d05efd6f_b.jpg20170917_141504 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4440/...f33e556e_b.jpg20170917_141512 by bjohnson388, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4392/...50112e2d_b.jpg20170917_183030 by bjohnson388, on Flickr to be cont'd Bret |
Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Great to see you back Bret.
If you stored those brake parts in my shop for three years they would be perfectly patina' by now. Door looks great as do tucked bumpers. |
