Some more updates.
Back on post #423, those seatbelts were swapped into Big Red. The seatbelts that I had in there were nice. But these were the very first set of seatbelt that I ever restored. I expanded a lot on what I do with the belts when I restore them now. So these will get that treatment, and then sold.
Then I took the aftermarket pedals out. I had acquired a set of NOS pedal pads several months ago, so I got those installed today also.

Very nice Tina. Much better with the factory pedals.

Gotta a question about the fender emblems. I like both ways, with and without. I’ve had a set for quite sometime now, with 3M tape. I always said once I get the truck detailed, I would put them on. What are your thoughts? Should I leave them off or put them on?
1st pic is Big Red
The other photos are random pics I found.

Your truck looks amazing either way but for me emblems on for sure. All or none on the stock trim.

I'm a fan of all or none too.

Re: My 86 build

I can understand the dilemma because your truck looks so clean without. But by nature, these trucks were labeled and badged and the fonts / medallions / etc. were all just part of the era. I think those big badges are part of what makes them cool. I believe you have the hood ornament, and I think that if you have that, it makes the fender badges a fer-sure.

Tina, I like the emblems on our trucks, My feeling if you delete them it should be on a more "custom" and "show" truck.... agree though... either way your truck is looking terrific!

I believe I will be putting them on. I have them, so why not.
Thanks for your input, I agree.

Not really truck related, but I did find a GM Binder for my manual. It needed one bad!

That's a cool binder. Where did you find that?

There is a guy on one of the FB groups that’s always finding cool GM stuff. Just recently, he had a bunch of Manuals in Binders. I already had a manual, so I asked him if he had a binder with no manual, and he did.
Same guy I got the NOS pedal pads from.

Ugh why is FB marketplace so popular now? I refuse to FB and I keep getting shown the deals I can't nab by my friends trying to get me back in lol. This is a social media as I get!

It's funny how these two posts kind of became related in my mind. TKCR, I was thinking that that guy must know the right dumpsters to dive in. I wonder if he has access to an old dealership or if he lives somewhere in Michigan.

Soundmound, Facebook is kind of like dumpster diving, or hunting for buried treasure. I'm about to wade back in there myself, because Craigslist doesn't have anything anymore hardly. I think the metaphor works whether you talk about treasure hunting on the ocean floor or digging for buried treasure. To some degree, you're pawing around in dirt and other people's garbage, looking for something worthwhile. A lot like fb.

Seems it’s been awhile since I have posted anything about Big Red. It has been a crazy year, to say the least.
I had to get new garage door openers, the one for Big Reds bay has been fried for several years now. If I need to open it, it’s pulling the cord and opening it manually. So I broke down and both replaced. Wow these things are super quiet!
But anyways, to get the openers changed out, I needed to get Big Red out of the garage for the day. It started right up, had a lot of white smoke for the first start up. So I backed it out and let it run for a bit and added some Seafoam. Next start up, it hardly smoked at all.
While it was uncovered I swapped out the overflow bottle. I found a NOS AC Delco awhile back, but never got it installed. It in there now!

Haven’t posted anything for awhile. Been working on a lot of seats & belts for everyone.
I do have Big Red up For Sale. Not that I’m really trying hard, lol. Just have it listed here on the Forum, and on my FB Page for the seats & belts I restore.
I got her uncovered today, to get her out and stretch her legs. First time this year. She fired right up and purrs like a wild kitten.
Took her out and did some country road driving on this beautiful day. Stopped and got some ice cream.

Hood, cowl and the fenders is new paint. Fender was blended because of the chip & deform. The rest is original to the best of my knowledge.

Thursday evening I went to a local Cruise In. They have it every Thursday starting in May to September. It was an absolutely beautiful evening!
617 vehicles in attendance. They said that was a new record!

Just finished reading this all the way through. Kind of odd that your truck has both the grille lights and bumper lights though. Always thought that was a one or the other kind of deal like the single-headlight trucks being either under the headlight or in the bumper.
