You're doing an excellent job of saving this one.

Thanks for the compliment. I am enjoying this one for sure. I have a few more audio upgrades to do as well as getting the original wheels stripped down and re-cleared.

I need to take a picture of it this weekend. Its pulling full time little league duty. Back end is packed full of gear. My son is on a 10U Elite/Travel lite team as well as local Rec 10U and my 5 year old girl is playing 6U Rec too. AND I help coach all 3 teams. I meet my self coming and going most days.

The VIN is an X, so it's for sure a 1999 model year. How crazy. I always thought they were 2000 only as well.

Your stock tire size should be 255/70. Looking at your pics, the tires look like they might be a little bit shorter.

It's also normal for the 2wd 4-door Tahoes and Yukons to sit high in the front. I had a '99 Yukon long ago. I measured it before I lowered it and it was 3/4" high in the front at stock height.

The original stock tire size on the Tahoe Limited was 255/70 16 on a 15 x 7 rim.

How does one seat the bead when mounting a 16" tire on a 15" rim? ;)

Duct tape.....

Spent the weekend driving the Hoe to baseball games. Helped coach
16 innings of youth baseball this weeks . Missed cars and coffee but it was worth it!

Also pulled a trailer for the first time today too, old girl with the used trans pulled great! Hauled a 16ft trailer with a 450 foreman and a picnic table about 45 miles. Very pleased

Bought a 318 Deere from my brother, used the 500 rubicon to pull it on the trailer. Bad engine

The ho looks great. Are you going to rebuild the Onan or repower? I love my 318, it's my "toy". Has ag tires on the back and tri rib Firestones on the front. Last time I looked they require your first born for the Onan rebuild kit.

I've got a very odd situation at my place. I grew up with a 317 dad did an updated onan swap on back in early 90's. I now have that 317 and use it every week. Its arm strong manual steering, but has a 50" deck and mows great runs great.

I bought a 318 last summer with a Honda 20hp repower on it. It was not wired yet, so I've been working through that, it had no deck either, so I picked up another deck just this past month for it. So far I've been at a stopping point not having time or directions for Honda/JD conversion....

Then out of the blue my brother calls and offers me his. So I may pull the Onan from the 317 and slap it in this 318..... OR leave the 317 alone until I get one of the others going..... To much green = to many problems The Honda may find its way in this new to me 318, its hard to say... lol

Now I have 2 dead needing love 318's both with 50" decks, a running leaking hystat 317 that needs tires aired up everytime I use it, but hey yard is getting mowed.

I plan to have 2 mowers that run and move so my boy can start mowing yards here in a few years

Too many miles for me , unless you seriously stole it.. Any idea why they would think that if the headgaskets are good?

Picked up a set of 20s for my 72 suburban. Tires have enough life left for rest of summer and fall so putting them on the Tahoe for now. Not to bad nose needs to come down!

Summer went fast! I ended up swapping out the carpet and cleaning up the seats/seat frames. Also installed a new in dash DVD player. Reallying digging this old Tahoe!

Just last weekend I got new tires mounted on the original wheels. Spent a couple of weeks off and on stripping a cleaning up/polishing the wheels. I am happy with the new Ebay center caps and the look of the wheels once I got done.

With Photobucket acting weird, I'll load the carpet pics here on this site at some point and share them.

Currently pondering LS swapping it.....

I gave it a good shot, but after driving my donor vehicle ( 79 C10 ) it makes sense. That 5.7 is a DAWG!!
