Still no mental pictures of what I want it too look like. I'm considering swapping the front end over to a 71 or 72 Chevy. I've thought about a flat orange, home made patina or blue and white. |
Re: The "Wrecker"
Alan ,my phone isnt set up for texts ,only calls . I also know where a few more trucks are laying in wait not far away ,dont know if they are for sale ,but they have been there a long time .

Re: The "Wrecker"
I have an extra 69-72 drivers side fender if you decide to go with the different front end.

Re: The "Wrecker"
Alan, I am loving your new build with this cool wrecker. I also agree that you need to do it Cooter style. Good luck with it, I bet you will have a lot of fun with it. Why don't you try to get your kids involved in building it with you?

I got a set of buddy seats yesterday for free and I found a manual for the Holmes 440 bed on ebay. I have also located a 1969 C30 dually with no bed that is running and driving. It has the chicken lights on the roof. It has the typical rust around here. I've only seen pics so far. It is 1 1/2 hours away. His bottom dollar is $1000 New battery, starter, carb so he says. |
Re: The "Wrecker"
Alan ,I have been watching that one for a while and wondering why it has not sold.

I would hate to drive that far for a pile of junk. He has gone from 1500 to 1000 thru text. That was all his doings. I pointed out a few things in his pics that didn't jive with his description. He's as low as he will go now. It's not even listed as of yesterday. He took the ad down due to CL loosers so to say. |

Just sell him your ton truck that way we don't have to drive 1-1/2 hours. |
Re: The "Wrecker"
I was at the bodyshop today and they want to keep the other doors until mine are repaired in case they need a part of them.
Shannon ,I have thought about taking the BuddyBuckets out of my 1 ton and selling it since I have not had time to play with it but Im afraid I have too much in it and I really do like my 1 ton. I hope during the Christmas break I can play with it some ,we shall see. |

Re: The "Wrecker"
Nice score, Alan. The 14 bolt thats under it is not original. Didn't come out til 73. The rear that is in the cab and chassis pics is the right one. Its an H072. While the brakes are a challenge to find for the H072, you can swap the 14 bolt stuff with a little bit of work.

Re: The "Wrecker"
ah good. I thought I might have miss it. Nice winter project. Maybe even a couple winters?
|
Re: The "Wrecker"
Shannon ,these are different BuddyBuckets ,they came in the 1 ton when I bought it .But they are pretty nice .

Well I went and looked at the cab a chassis. It might be a good deal for some one. The only thing I liked on it was a Title, and a roof skin with chicken lights. I poured gas in the carb of the wrecker and she fired but the fuel pump is shot. It's been raining all day so no progress. My delimma now is should I swap from drum brakes to disc? I found a 76 C20 suburban that the guy will sell the complete suspension and steering for $225 He will cut the rails at the firewall. I will have to buy rotors for the reverse wheels that are on a dually that cost $120/ea |
Re: The "Wrecker"
Personally I would say do the swap to disc brakes. Nothing concerned me more than when people would cut me off and then slam on their brakes and me have my 4 wheel drums lock up and rearend them.

Re: The "Wrecker"
Very nice find! Looking forward to watching it come together. Subscribed....

Re: The "Wrecker"
I like the 68 GMC front clip, the hockey puck lights ( chicken ) are 69-72 the 67-68 just had over the counter lights that you can still find.

Re: The "Wrecker"
Pulled the carb to clean it out.
http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps36a2cece.jpg Floats were out of adjustment. That's a 7/16 drill bit showing how bad they were. Float drop was also way out. Maybe all this will help. The carb had some junk in it. http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/y...psc918ae5c.jpg Picked up a used performer intake. TY Billy http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps7819bbc0.jpg |
