Re: Roof swap on my panel begins
I remember Helms Bakery. They had an aroma that was second to none.

Re: Roof swap on my panel begins
My first vehicle when I was 16, in 1968, was a '55 TF that the Helms decal outline showed beneath the cover-up paint job. It was a 6 w/3-on-the-tree and no heater or passenger seat.
Here is the only Helms TF photo I have found. Wish it was larger. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psb9bff40c.jpg Here is a '60's example: http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...a4-1-1-1-1.jpg |
Re: Roof swap on my panel begins
I'm glad to see you're getting her fixed back up. Do you have any photos of the deer sausage or the tinder-loin biscuits? kidding!!! what is the plan for the tail lights? Are they staying the same? keep up the good work.

Re: Roof swap on my panel begins
I picked a non-automotive color, so I went to the shop and see if they could match it.
It is a color called Creamy Orange Whip. I would call it a creamy white with a touch of red and yellow. They mixed it, shot a sample sheet and hit it with clear. Looked fine! These shots are from the shop photog. I meant to take some of the doors and fenders, which are primed, too, but a snowstorm was coming in and it got me distracted and I forgot. They continue to remark how little rust they found. They fixed a few areas, including in-and-out on the lower door panels. They look sweet all primed and smooth. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps766b47e4.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps3f6147a3.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psc102c6d5.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps816869d2.jpg |

Re: Roof swap on my panel begins
Hood, fenders, side and back doors are all on, for the paint booth. No glass yet. Photos are not too clear, as they were taken through the booth windows. Roof was done earlier, so it is covered with plastic. Photo one shows the final paint.

It's a great day when the project goes into the paint booth. Waiting to see the results.

Re: Roof swap on my panel begins
Cool that is looking great. I think I'd keep the company sign up in the flat panel and possibly run a color matching pinstripe along that belt line as that is a lot of white.

I can get my wife to run some trim ideas through Photoshop, before I do much. Plus, I do the vinyl myself, so I can mess around, to some extent. Having the store name on it is the main justification for having it. True, without making it a two-tone, which I do not want, panels obviously have a large silhouette. Honestly, IMO that was a lot of red before.:mm: |
Re: Roof swap on my panel begins
Panel looks great Highsider. Congrats.

Well you could do your vinyl that also shows at night like this.
The part that reflects looks black in the light. Its the first layer then covered by the vinyl gold leaf leaving a boarder of reflective black that shows white. Oh ya the third layer is the red reflective Bow Tie. And yes this is the companion to my Modern Trailabout . |

G&R -
I like it. It makes the signage a 24-hour display. I like that! Safety, too. |
