Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
alright worked all day and got the framing for the new bedfloor all squared away only a little more welding tomorrow afternoon then sheetmetal ((would have finished but batteries in the ole welding helmet went dead... ))
where the 45' angles are cut in that shape will be cut out and im planning on making a trick little cover to be removable for shows and then reinstalled for when i want to take trash to the dump haha ! http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...07480255_n.jpg hopefully sheet-metal tomorrow evening ! Thanks everyone for the kind words |
Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
got the first section of the sheet-metal all fit and tacked in .. waiting on another piece to finish the back... curse the bed for being 50 inches... lots of wasted sheet-metal needed 2 4x8 pieces
http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...42049246_n.jpg http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...01192764_n.jpg and this was just to get the look of the shape it will be a little bigger after being cut out obviously but you get the idea ... then ill make a removable center section!! http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...13418272_n.jpg |

Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
vince921, looks great. I know what you mean about the bed chewing up sheet metal because of it being 50 inches wide.

Thank you sir!
got some help today to get the body off!!! tomorrow hopefully have the motor pulled and be ready to get this chassis all cleaned up!! waiting on my accuair setup to arrive so i can get my sensor mounts all made up http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...93940944_n.jpg http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...02330194_n.jpg http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...10410586_n.jpg |
Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
started smoothing out the rough areas ! almost ready for some primer.. unfortunately after removing the motor, the motor mounts where very poorly welded on ... almost as with no gas the porosity was horrible so i spend all of yesterday grinding those welds out and repairing ...
http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...79030038_n.jpg http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...78134885_n.jpg the frame is completely stripped now ... hopefully in primer by the end of the week!!! |
Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
What size air lines are you running??...they look like garden hose compaired to my 1/4" lines...ha ha
Looking good. Marc |
Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
if the other welds were good and those weren't, why would someone skimp out on motor mounts even with no gas. boggles my mind. coming along nice. yeah looks like some 1/2 line there, could always run smaller valves to slow it down if you need to.

Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
I don't want to by any means disrespect the previous owner by saying the work was horrible .... But the welds on the motor mounts where not the only skimped out part ... All the work on the backhalf maybe would have worked for some but it wasn't great by far ... Which is the main reason I started over completely ... I had to go through a few months and grind out all the welds on the aftermarket front suspension mount ... It hasn't been a walk in the park by any means.... But it's all fixed now! Chassis is in primer !!! Ready for some grey !!!

Yes its paint i was gonna try and do powder coat but i really wanted this color and plus i have some things i might need to weld so ill have to be doing touch ups in a perfect world i could have had everything purchased and mocked up first.. but we know how that goes.. Im more then happy with the paint |

Looks amazing man.

Re: 1950 3100 Full Custom **GunMetal**
vince921, looks great. I like paint over powder coat because you can spot in the color with paint if you have to fix or add something.
