I wish you the best with the conversion.

Thanks.... i guess the same could be said for the 1st gen Chevrolet small block, yet many people replace them with late model FI engines. Better power, better drivability, better fuel economy, increased dependability, greater availability of parts, etc... plus i enjoy doing it...

This is a sweet build. After reading the whole thing last time, I had to pull up CL. There is a guy in my neighborhood that flips Grand Wagoneers. I drive by his house on the way home from work every night and have to take a look. I have a feeling one of those is in my future somewhere, with an LS swap. Just have to finish the current one first.

And that's what matters.

Next weekend I will start on the frame clean up and tear down of the transfercase. I believe I am going to have to replace some parts in the TC. The front bearing was very lose.

Removed and broke down the Transfer Case.. It all looked good except for the front output bearing.. it was in bad shape.. Still attempting to find someone to sell me a rebuild kit.

I bought this press a couple of years ago and it is still working well..

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6120225.jpg

Started the cleanup of the TC case and parts..

Removed the steering gear and started cleaning it up..

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6130236.jpg

Started the process of getting the engine in the correct position for building the mounts.. I had hoped to use the factory engine mounts and brackets.. but doesn’t look like it will work.. I most likely will order the Advanced Adapter kit…

Update from 06/15/14..

Had problems getting one of the bearings off the shaft… had to use an old trick with a new tool.. It popped loose before I cut all the way through.

Overall, the rebuild was much easier than expected.. I reused the shims that were original to the TC. The preload was a little on the tight side, but still in specs.

The LS1 fans look like they were made to mount up to the stock radiator.
I really like the new headers too. Those look nice! You made the transfer case overhaul look easy.....
