Re: Crash's 1988 Land Cruiser Build
This is a sweet build. After reading the whole thing last time, I had to pull up CL. There is a guy in my neighborhood that flips Grand Wagoneers. I drive by his house on the way home from work every night and have to take a look. I have a feeling one of those is in my future somewhere, with an LS swap. Just have to finish the current one first.

I believe I am going to have to replace some parts in the TC. The front bearing was very lose. |
Re: Crash's 1988 Land Cruiser Build
Wow, you weren't messing around with pulling the old drivetrain. Very quick!

Re: Crash's 1988 Land Cruiser Build
Removed and broke down the Transfer Case.. It all looked good except for the front output bearing.. it was in bad shape.. Still attempting to find someone to sell me a rebuild kit.

I had hoped to use the factory engine mounts and brackets.. but doesn’t look like it will work.. I most likely will order the Advanced Adapter kit… http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6130241.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6130242.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6130243.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6130244.jpg |

Update from 06/15/14..
Mounted the LS1 Camaro Fans to the Land Cruiser radiator. I used these fans on my 69 Chevy K10 build and they have really worked well. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6150245.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6150246.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6150247.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6150248.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6150249.jpg I really need to get rid of this.. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6150253.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6150254.jpg |

It popped loose before I cut all the way through. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6220289.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6220290.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6220291.jpg Idler shaft was worn pretty bad.. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6220292.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...e/P6220293.jpg Overall, the rebuild was much easier than expected.. I reused the shims that were original to the TC. The preload was a little on the tight side, but still in specs. |
Re: Crash's 1988 Land Cruiser Build
The LS1 fans look like they were made to mount up to the stock radiator.
I really like the new headers too. Those look nice! You made the transfer case overhaul look easy..... |
