Re: my drunken purchase

Mine went like this:
- found my panel 1800-miles away in SoCal
- bought a one-way ticket
- figured if we make a deal, put on some new tires and drive it home or fly home empty handed
- four days before takeoff, a buddy calls and says "if the deal falls through, I need a van driven home from out there"
Well, made the deal after four days of negotiation and here is me and my rig, sitting in Newport, ready to hit the 15:

Re: my drunken purchase

NOPE! The guy was supposed to be here yesterday, came up with some excuse and never showed. He's got until today to get it here or I am calling the state highway patrol and reporting the truck stolen.

The guy is either the dumbest, unluckiest person in the world or he is full of s%$t. On top of all that he doesn't call me back, pick his phone up, do what he is supposed to do, etc.

Theres nothing worse than dealing with stupid people!!!!!! Im sure your truck will show up about the time your ready to strangle this guy. Have you tried having a few more BEERS? that may lead you to a solution. I put down a 12 pack the other night while trying to align my front end, I thought it looked great, the next morning not so great!!! Good Luck!

Re: my drunken purchase

BTW: it should make you feel better if I add up all my "panel purchase trip" expenses, such as flight, local car rental, u-haul trailer rental, gas, food, etc, it comes to $2500 and I slept in the van coming home.
The entire process lasted a full 7-day week, including the horse-trading and drive 1800-miles home.

So, think of what you are probably saving, in time and money!

Of course, I had a ball doing all this.
:mm:

At the end of the 2 week period, my customer called the company and told them they had until the next day and he was going to call the cops.
Amazingly enough, the car showed up the next day...in the middle of the first rain storm we'd had in like a month.

it's sad that a c10 owner has to get drunk to buy one of these fine trucks :D

We're not sure he actually owns one yet.

C'mon, Ogre, you can't tell me that somewhere along in your build, your truck never made you feel like drinking. I've been messing with old trucks since I got out of the Air Force in '75...I know better.

Re: my drunken purchase

Well the driver was supposed to drop it off Thursday and never showed up or called after I had talked to him that day. Then the next day told me someone hit his trailer. I blew a gasket and told him I'm filing a police report if I don't get it by the end of the day and what do you know? It showed up.

I will post some more pics

Guess that's what you got to do.
My customer's experience pretty much the same except for the accident part. Good thing the guy didn't get hit hard enough to damage your truck.
Did the driver have a Ukrainian accent?

The color is more vibrant in person. The only thing I can tell that somebody did to it was smooth down the paint with a fine scotchbright or something because the finish is too smooth. Other than that the truck is very original and complete. Need to get it running and stopping next.

That's a vacuum gauge not a tach.

So it is! Still a distraction that needs a new home!!!

They probably used CLR and a pad to get off the surface corrosion.
