Got the replacement cross member and spare tire tub back from the blaster. Went to the shop this morning to repair a few spots that blasting revealed. Then hit everything with 2 coats of self etching primer. Next step is to cut out section of floor and install. New body mounts and hardware are here, gotta patch pass side mount and start putting back together.

Very clever to work with the floor piece attached to the cross member. I did my floor repair after the cross member was re installed and it was a difficult place to work. Very nice repair !

Thanks, I like doing the fab work. Just hate repairing rust. Hoping to install cross member on Saturday. We are currently in the middle of a blizzard and power just went out

Got it all painted up during the week. 2 coats of self etching, 2 epoxy primer and 3 coats of paint. Might be a little over board but I'm hoping not to do it twice

After plowing snow this morning a friend gave me a hand installing brace. Definitely a two man job. Inner rocker on 4th? Door side was pretty rusted so we cut that out which gave a little extra room to get it in. Got it fit and plug welded to floor. need to bolt down body mounts and make some patches for driver side. Next step is making a new piece of plywood

Wow that is some impressive rust repair you are doing on that rig.
Very nice.

New floor braces arrived and are really nice. Cleaned them up and primed/painted. Me and a friend made up the new plywood floor. 3/4" marine plywood, made a spline out of mahogany that I had and used West system epoxy to glue together. Also added a few Kreg jig screws for extra strength and used Bondo on the holes. Primed new piece, couple coats of paint and it's ready to go back in. Also while waiting for epoxy to dry I got the pass side c notch cut out, man do I love my plasma cutter

Did you use a hand held router and slot cutter for the slot? :ben:

Seems like something safer but unwieldy for a shaper.

Good job. I've wondered why more people haven't done it that way.
