Ah, to spend others money... My truck has a 1981 cali only caprice/Camaro 305 145 hp wonder.. Soon to be replaced by a 350 vortec If I ever have money burning a hole in my wallet, I'll finish my 489.. |
Re: Poll: Which engine powers your 67-72?
My truck is a original 307 truck. It has a worn out 350 with headers and an RV cam.in it. I plan to put a crate small block in it. I'd go big block but I am fond of the 3 speed manual trans and a big motor might be too much torque for it!

SB400
I had every intention to build an LS C10 but when I finally found one the previous owner had just completed a very nice motor build so it's gonna stay. |
Re: Poll: Which engine powers your 67-72?
Ex tbi 350 for now. When the rest of the truck is as good as realistically possible, then a BOPC big block of some sort. Backed by a manual, of course!

Re: Poll: Which engine powers your 67-72?
Let's just vote and show/talk about what we have without making comparisons or judgements of one vs the other. Well, unless you want to get me started
Live and let live and I like them all. There is a current trend I chose not to follow, but I have nothing against others going that route. I may one day but see no reason to now |

Re: Poll: Which engine powers your 67-72?
I had a street rod before the c10 that was Ls6 powered and it was great.
Got the c10 with small block 350 and feel it is just as great. No plans for change. |
Re: Poll: Which engine powers your 67-72?
The 68 has it's original 327 which needs rebuilt, the 69 has a hot little 383 stroker currently, will go LS (and turbo maybe) eventually.

Mildly built 355 with Turbo 400. 9.3 cr. GM Performance flat tappet cam, ported, Mallory ignition ect. It should be a nice street engine.

Re: Poll: Which engine powers your 67-72?
I guess I never posted what I have. I could have sworn I did after I voted. Anyway, I have an outdated numbers correct 350 in my outdated '72 K2500...about 300hp now. And, for my '67 SWB I am building to be an era correct hot truck I built a high nickle large journal 327 to 325hp. Here it is:
