Diesel idle tool?

Killer Bee 01-25-2019 12:35 PM

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

well that didn't take very long, geez :)

more specifically, Cummins PT fuel pump idle adjustment tool..

the key to this little gem is that you can adjust the idle while it's running ;)

I think it's used for gauging size or depth of something.

Now that would be a hillbilly tooth pick. Handle for leverage.

Yes. But I'll make you wait a tad longer for the answer. ;)

You could have said, "What kind of diesel idle tool?". Or, "You didn't say idle 'adjustment' tool". Ya gave in too easy... See? VVV

Depth of oil in a sump? Bottle opener at the other end.... handy!

Now that's pretty wild. While the tool I posted looks right at home with the other tools 3757chevy has shown, Ol Blue K20 was on the right track. Mine is one of the tools that came with millions of Mosin-Nagant rifles. It was used to measure firing pin protrusion. The screwdriver tip adjusted the firing pin in or out.

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

Appears to be a multi purpose tool then. Bicycle spokes to rifles.

Totally stumped on this one, but I must guess. Looks like a light duty handle to connect/disconnect a wiring harness??

Come on KB, toss this dog a bone. Is it used on a red, yellow or green engine?

Killer Bee 01-29-2019 09:07 PM

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

black but commonly called 'red top', two clues there ;)

later version of the same basic engine model the previous tool is for..

Ol Blue K20 01-29-2019 09:09 PM

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

I don't own any of those color engines.lol

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

I've never had to work on a Cummins engine, so I don't know what it is.

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

The engine is an N14 but I don’t know what the tool is for.

3757chevy 01-29-2019 10:50 PM

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

Some kind of tool to set something in sequence? But I got no clue!

Killer Bee 01-29-2019 10:56 PM

Re: What-is-it Pic Game

this particular tool is specific to n14 but very common component on almost every on road diesel engine..
