But, by the time I pay for all the parts, I'm into it for close to a thousand dollars. Tru Trac posi unit, ring and pinion, bearing, seals etc. Puts me pretty close to a grand. A friend of mine who runs a shop (and obtains a discount) on the parts, will complete the entire job for $1,168.00. And he does this stuff weekly, versus me hardly ever doing it. So I'll drop the rear end off to him on Monday, and probably be able to pick it up on Wednesday, or Thursday at the latest. Pat |

Well...since I took the leaf springs out, I may as well take out the fuel tank and check to make sure all is well there too.
Now....the cleaning begins. Pat |
Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
So clean and rust free! What’s the bolt look like that attaches the fuel sending unit ground to the frame?

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Awesome thanks. I recall my bolt being funky just like yours - thin head and long thread. Thanks for posting.

Leaf Springs taken apart, cleaned, painted and new bushings installed.
Got the 12 bolt rebuild completed. Tru-Trac posi traction unit, 410 gears, new bearings and new axles. Took fuel tank out. Cleaned it, and painted with body armor paint. Same for the frame. Pat |

Your yoke will be on it's way today! Nice Jimmy. You don't see many white, now that I'm thinking about it

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
It's like Christmas everyday, you can't decide which part you like best, then you add another part and you like that one better. great build so far, keep going

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Great Job! Interested to follow along with a build that leaves the body on the frame. I am doing the same as I have no room to take it off. Thanks for sharing.

The whole idea was to just rebuild the motor, do a few things and get it going. Unfortunately, it just grows and I may as well do this now.....and so on. Pat |

Another update!
Went ahead and ordered the Original Air Stage II kit for the replacement of the old air compressor, and swapping out to 134a refrigerant. Looks like I'll have to remove the original factory AC brackets. Not something I like to do, but it's a must with the new compressor. Pat |

Will start the radiator support, and the fenders soon. |

Also, working on the AC dog house. Turning our pretty darn good. That Harrison sticker is the original one that was on the unit. The seal kit I ordered was not good at all. Definitely wasn't the correct one for my AC Dog House. I'll have to check the order, as I need to make sure I ordered for an AC unit. I just ended up fabricating my own. Pat |
