Re: Buck's '63 SWB Fleet Side Build
Nice. I was wondering what the status on this truck.
Keith & I walked around LST last weekend talking about trucks we've had/have & checking out some old favorites (+ seeing some new ones). |
Re: Buck's '63 SWB Fleet Side Build
Nice little shop! The satin black on those parts look good.

The first phase of Milly's transformation is complete; five lug swap with disc brakes up front, dual pot master cylinder with adjustable proportioning valve, I'm guessing a 5/7-ish drop (the springs are an unknown to me), Deadend Garage rear notch track bar and shock re-locators, and finally the popular 15" Troq Thrust Ds.

Out with the old! (I forgot to take a pic with the stuff installed, I'll get some later)
Attachment 2095792 Dual pot master cylinder installed Attachment 2095793 Money shot! I wasn't sure I'd ever really like a truck as much as I liked my green '68 stepper... but I am there again. I love it! Attachment 2095796 Another side shot. Attachment 2095797 |
Man your truck is looking good! I have been craving some time out in the shop with mine and seeing your project just pushed me over the edge! Thanks for the push! Good looking truck man

Oh yeah, that's a great look for your truck. I'm a big fan of caps and steelies, but I love those wheels too :metal:

Well... it has been a minute since I updated this thread! We have begun the transformation, the first step was driving a little over 2,000 miles round trip (1,000 of them straight through on the way home) to Boris Maryanovski's Street Machinery in Euclid, OH to pick up a new chassis. We are putting Milly on a Roadster Shop Slammed SPEC chassis equipped with their FOX coilover shocks. We have pulled the body off the old chassis have started fitting it to the RS chassis. I have a 6.0L LS that my friend Ernie Holder will be going through, looking for 500hp, and a 4L80E to back it up. I think I'm going to run a 3.25 gear in the rear end. Let do some pics...

A few people asked how I got the chassis off the trailer by myself so here are the pics...

Putting the cab on the new chassis
This was nerve racking! Attachment 2152839 My awesome wife making sure we are working safely and efficiently. Attachment 2152840 Lowering the cab tooth by tooth on the jack stands Attachment 2152841 Checking out its new home Attachment 2152842 Booty pic! Attachment 2152843 |

Things to come shortly...
Cab is going to need a tunnel, unfortunately sheetmetal is not my strong suite. Attachment 2152844 I think I'd like to keep the storage areas forward and aft of the notch accessible. Something similar to this one done by RS but not as squared off looking. Attachment 2152845 And the fire wall is going to need a shave... but how much???? Attachment 2152846 |

Likely going to use Hart Fab inner fenders so why not use their firewall to match?
Pics from the Hart Fab site. Attachment 2152850 Attachment 2152851 That's enough for tonight, more soon! |
Re: Buck's '63 SWB Fleet Side Build
Man you guys were busy! It's looking good Ernie. I know with me it is really hard to get into cutting body that is as nice as Millie, but it needs it. They way you and the crew are working, I expect you guys will have it all worked and running by New Years eve. ;)
