Re: what happened to Brothers
This is all to common when the original company founders get older, and want to retire. They have a choice to leave it to their kids, assuming they know anything, or sell out.
I would rather see a successful owner operated company bought out by a larger successful company, then have the original owner's kids and in-laws take over the company after pops retire and slowly run the company and name into the ground with bad sourced cheap parts and poor customer service. Nothing more frustrating then buying parts from a name brand that you think is good/premium, only to find out that it now cheap subpar. I can think of a few large tool manufacturers for example...... |
Re: what happened to Brothers

Dropdown for the Jimmy ended at 1970.* Were you looking for a part that wasn't on the production line til 1975? Like HEIs? Some things like HEI, discbrakes, and internally regulated alternators, you have to ''lie'' to the computer and use a later vintage than '67-'72. * [Which is right because only Chevy made Blazers in 1969. After the first year, GM had to double their K/5 output, and making a K/5 badged as a GMC was a good idea. Plus they could sell that product at Cadillac and B-O-P dealerships.] :gmc2: |
Re: what happened to Brothers
You also might need to change the model or sub model. Hollie's filter is a bit finicky. I finally figure it out for my 72 GMC. Parts made it to my place in So Cal less than a week

Re: what happened to Brothers
Big equity firms are flush with cash and auto parts industry is ripe for consolidation….Ecklers got bought out them the new firm started buying up other catalog parts companies.
The goal of the equity firm is to build sales through acquisitions and cut expenses…..when they get big enough they flip the portfolio making millions leaving the new parent company with the place not in good shape and the loyal customers loose. |
Re: what happened to Brothers
Hope this doesn't kill their annual truck show. Best on the West Coast.

Re: what happened to Brothers
To be frank, Brothers now suck. I used to like them and ordered a lots of parts from them. I always thought they sold above average decent stuff, now i see they have dropped many of these good parts, probably because big corporate Holly didn't see enough profit margin in those parts.
Just like any company who gets absorbed into the corporate umbrella, they usually go to crap within a year. And I noticed their search engine is crappy too, way to hard to find what your looking for and to find out it no longer exist. Besides, I never liked Holly carbs anyway. Ive been a mechanic for many years and i can get a Quadrajet to work a whole better than a Holly anyday. |
Re: what happened to Brothers
I live less than 2 miles from Ecklers and I no longer buy anything from them. Everything they sell is Chinese crap to the lowest quality I've ever seem.

Re: what happened to Brothers
Hope Holley doesn't pull the Brother's educational truck repair vids off YouTube. There's some good info on there.
