That's a bit higher than that combo goes for here, but it looks clean as a whistle, and complete. Awesome score. What's the plan with that? Boost!?

As much as I'd personally love to throw a turbo on it I highly doubt that it will happen. That's not to say I won't be making a few calls to some guys I know at Garrett & Turbonetics. Although, one of our very good local customers just happens to be one of KenneBell's top dealers and tuners. That temptation is always lingering over us too.

If the forced induction thing doesn't happen we'll probably just do cam only. I think The 317 heads will be a pretty good match for our intended usage.

Holley oil pan definitely isn't going to clear.

F-Body pan clears the rack but interferes with two bolts on the back of the crossmember. Engine needs to go back.

Have you looked at the Mast Motorsports Oil Pans?

http://www.mastmotorsports.com/view.php?id=160&c=49&s=7

Seems like I heard somewhere that they have a little more clearance than the F-Body pans. But it's always good to move the engine back like you mentioned for weight distribution.

What did you come up with on the spindles? You had mentioned a few posts back that you were developing your own since the CPP MOD spindle didn't work out....

Everything is looking great BTW.!!!!

There is also the LSA oil pan. It has a different sump shape then the F body pan. It a little bit deeper then the F body pan, but not near as deep as the truck pan.

Price and availability always has us using the F-Body pan for mock up. The engine only needed to go back roughly 1/8" to clear the sump.

We took a mod spindle, cut off the steering arm, machined two faces on the spindle and bolted on one of our steering arms. This will atleast get us where we need to be dimensionally for mock up.

Double checking the geometry

http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...psadef7812.jpg

http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8affbd5a.jpg

Things to note: Driver side spindle is different than Passenger. The passenger side design is our new custom set-up. It is based on a C10 pin and uses the factory lower ball joint with a heavy duty Moog upper. The steering arm is removable and helped us attain the geometry and turning radius we desired.

We finished up some first articles this week. The long tedious process of confirming fixtures and parts begins now.

http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps49cecdb7.jpg

Stock parts = #342 lbs
http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscf7d382e.jpg

TCI parts = 270 lbs (Total weight savings of 72 lbs)
http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...psf31a67ce.jpg

We also picked up a 2nd chassis to use as a rolling display. It just happened to be a longbed so we made a How-To to show the process of making it a shortbed.

We're trying to have it road worthy by the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville(Early August). We just have a very busy schedule between now and then not to mention we're developing parts for the 2nd Gen Camaros at the same time.

The Truckin Throwdown was in our back yard (Fontana) last Friday so I think that event helped light a fire.

What is the max rim width your C/O arrangement allows (since this a 'touring' based app)?

We're working with American Racing wheels and Falken Tire now to figure out what we can and can' fit in there. We'll know in the next few weeks.

Looks great but a question. Having the rear coil overs outboard of the frame, won't that limit you on how wide of a wheel you can fit?

Yes... That's why I asked what the width limit was w/the set-up. I'm guessing maybe a 12" width max. Maybe less though (hard to judge accurately from monitor pics). But the outboard arrangement offers the best stability....

Hey I'm all for it. The great thing about our hobby is that there's room for everybody. TCI is working hard to deliver a good product to the customer. PorterBuilt is for the really low guys. we focus on ride quality and performance. This looks to be the easiest to install, with the full bolt-on rear suspension. (ours requires welding on the housing) So the customer has more choices. That will get more trucks built, and more people involved. Good for all of us. Bring it on.
BTW, the TCI outboard doesn't look any farther out than ours. 12" no problem (will need wider tubbs after 10") 14" can be done, but it's very tight. We did 345/30/19 on 19x12" wheels, had a 13 5.8 section width.

I have to admit, you've got me curious about the dog bone for the torque arm mount. I was starting to wonder how you could have the rear axle solidly mounted and then have 3 pivot points on different planes without binding, but this is an ingenious idea! But I wonder how much you gain with a torque arm running with truck arms? Are you predicting enough flex in the rear end housing that the truck arms aren't enough to maintain a correct pinion angle? All cool things, just thought I'd spark some more conversation...

Mike I had to take a close look after you posted this and was wondering how that would work. Well it looks like it will work fine. the truck arms we are used to are not truck arms at all. There is a pivot in the back making this a true 3 link. Kinda slick the way it is done.

will the parts be available separately? I'm interested in the c-notch/panhard & upper coilover mounts. right now I'm running an old cpp coilover setup on the rear of my truck but the upper mounts are set up for a 4" stroke coil-over and I'd like to upgrade to at least 5" stoke for more suspension travel and it looks like your upper mounts would be just about perfect. right now I have to run a stiffer spring than I would like to keep it from bottoming
I was going to fab my own but if I can get the yours without having to buy the whole setup that's the way i'll go, and more than likely end up with your complete rear set up before its all over.

back 20 years ago when I was a teenager I installed and helped install a lot of tci suspension parts at a little street rod shop near spring texas. I worked for free in return for left over parts. when I tubbed my 72 the narrowed rear axle, wheel tubs, wheels and 14/32 pro-tracs cost me a whole whopping $200 installed. sometimes working for free is good

Not yet, but we are making fixtures now so labor time studies will be very soon. There are so many new parts in this kit that are bigger (more welding)and far more heavy duty than what we're used to I wouldn't even come close to venturing a guess.

With any kit we sell there are multiple sub-kits within the BOM (Bill of Materials). For instance a complete rear suspension will typically have 10 to 15 sub part #'s. Ranging from Coil-overs, crossmembers, link bars, panhard bar, axle brackets etc. Any of these sub part #'s will be available separately.
