Check out www.nolimit.net. That is where I got my motor mounts from.

Re: Crossmember Drop

I see from the posts that some are using MII and some TBird racks. What are you using for tie rod ends that will fit the stock spindle? From my searching an MII is shorter than a Tbird are you cutting the rack?

Using stock tie rod ends. I cut down my T-bird Rack and made adapters to make my tie rods work.

Re: Crossmember Drop

fastbagged68,

Did you make an adjuster or something else? Do you have a pic you can post?

I'm at the point on mine that I want to finish the front suspension and I am at the steering box. I need to replace the box so I thought I might just use a rack. The cost for a rack is less than a quick ratio Saginaw box and the project is very interesting but the rod ends are the stopper. I didn't want to use heim joints as some have done. So if I can use the stock ends with a modified adjuster it should work out ok.

I have to say I've been pretty impressed with what you guys have done with this modification and the way this thread has evolved from an idea into How-to. It makes it nice when I can read a thread and get everything I need to know to do the project and who not to buy the parts from and what not to do.

Good Job All

Took some solid stock and made an adjuster... tapped one end to fit rack the other end to fit tie-rod end...

Re: Crossmember Drop

That sounds easy enough, I think I'll go with a rack from a Tbird.

Thanks

Re: Crossmember Drop

So, this is the second time I have read the whole thread. On the upper plate that the bag mounts to, do you use a plate or a cup? Does anything need to be modified on the spring pocket? I am going to section my crossmember 1.5", 3" drop spindles, plate on top of the bag and air ride arms. I am running a 235/40/20 on the front and wanna lay the frame. I am looking to have about a 5" ride height at the bottom of the frame. I also plan to move my crossmember foward 1" to correct the centerline of the wheel. I am also going to fab up R&P.

Re: Crossmember Drop

I am running a cup on the upper mount. I cut my crossmember higher to let the control arm come up more. Look back @ some of the pics.

The Wallet Eater has a flat plate on top, no mod to the spring pocket... just the 1.5" xmember notch itself. Also, ART arms, bag mounts directly to LCA, and spindle.

I didn't see any pics with a cup on the top. I will go back and look.
Thanks

After reading this thread, I would say this was the start of it all. Good thread too, if you have the time to read it.

one of the best post in this thread ! beside's all the good info.
I think a small cross member notch with a small "Z" would look the best , allthough over all it would be more work I think it would be less modifacation's.
gotta keep in mind these guy's were run'n 29" tall tire's back then, I think most of us have taller tire's these day's.
