Great looking rides! Now, let a Chevy guy (hey we're all GM!) ask a question. Is it true most 2wd GMC's came with leaf spring rears, opposite of Chevy's which were mostly coil-spring? Just curious.

When you are talking 1/2 ton, in my experience there are ALOT more GMC leaf spring than Chevy for sure. We have parted ALOT of trucks. Jenn

I've read somewhere that trailing arms were only available on Chevys and that 67-72 GMC were all leaf sprung. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Here's my 67 GMC, just picked it up last week. I'll be cutting down the bed and frame, swapping to trailing arms, lowering it and setting it up to handle, and probably putting in a 5.3

Gmc or chevy could be had either way with leafs or coils. Leafs were standard on gmc and coils standard for chevy.

Ok, good to know. I've always liked the GMCs better but wanted trailing arms. I've never seen a GMC with them

Even though it was the norm for GMC's to have leaf, they were still listed on the SPID. It was technically an option but it was standard procedure for that option to be present on the GMC. Confusing, right?

Does anybody have a good picture of a front hubcap for a 4X4 with steel wheels? I can't seem to find one anywhere.

just saw this question now. The answer is no, 67 gmc 4x4,s didnt have caps on the front. I dont think chevy did as well until 69 or 70.

I tend to think GMC didn't offer coil springs on 4X2 pickups in '67-'68, but certainly did starting in '69. Chevy always had the leaf spring option.

Here is mine. The front clip is a 68 I have been told, but the rest is a 67. New engine being installed as we speak, mine had a cracked head and warped block, the PO put the screws to me...live and learn, I'll have a three year unlimited mileage warranty and a nice reliable truck!

Nice truck! The only thing on your truck I can see that isn't '67 are the front fenders. The grille is '67-only and so is the hood with no letters and no moulding on the leading edge of hood and fenders. The top is painted 68-72 style. '67s were painted only into the drip rail
