Re: 1984 K30 Project Plow Truck

Sadly, Cletus was sold after a series of ill-fated decisions on my part a few years back. and this is the worst winter so far since I sold Cletus. I was pleased to have the experience building it though and ready to get more momentum behind my other truck. Just need this darn cold winter to go away so I can spend more time on it.

I do want another K series sooo bad right now! I guess I will have to live vicariously through you!

Ah bummer well I know how that goes. If I had unlimited funds and space I would never sell a truck but neither of those things are true.

Bet this is as light as the ass of this truck has been since it rolled off the factory floor and headed for the upfitters. Also installed a rear view mirror. Being able to see directly behind me will be nice. I hope I'm not giving up too much traction. Big storm headed this way!

Plowed six hours tonight and already got a foot. Supposed to keep coming through Saturday.

Traction wasn't an issue at all. Seeing while driving between houses was.

Glad I can defrost between pushes. It would be a mess otherwise.

Another 4 hours of plowing the 4-6" we got overnight. Mostly uneventful until I was plowing back at the barn and a Ram5500 roll back truck with a Nissan Pathfinder on the back got stuck in the drive. First time I had to put it in low range but she pulled him right out. Should have good wrecker karma for a while now.

Got a break in the snow so I decided to do a little maintenance and clean up the plow. It looks pretty shabby.

No sooner did I tear it apart than the weatherman said never mind the cold and clear here comes more snow. Now I need to hustle and get it back together.

You are are making all that snow look kind of fun! Makes for a good excuse to go out and play with your trucks.

Haha it's lots of fun! Replaced a solenoid / valve and check valve so hopefully it works as good as it looks, which is ok.

Got all the plow parts back together and the pump / valve assembly painted. It will go together in about 5 min tomorrow.

Pretty comfortable with how this whole thing works now that I've taken it apart a couple times.

Nice work on the plow! Looks like your getting good use out of it. I've only had mine on the truck 3 times so far this winter.

Thanks guys! She is earning it this winter. I got oil pan and trans pan heaters that I need to install but I've been parking at the hanger which is a way better option. More snow tonight then dropping to minus a bunch tomorrow.

Oh and the plow functions flawlessly after the repairs I made, more importantly.

Plow truck is pressed into daily driver duty. Took the studs off and grabbed the 255's off the crew cab while my Tacoma is getting some PM done. I kind of like it.

Think I'll also pick up a set of rear hub caps. These are the crew's.

I forgot you had this truck. How does the 292 do in the 1 ton? The 250 in my 67 is pretty slow...especially with the 3 on the tree, but I think its because it has the stock intake/header and a tiny 1 barrel carb

Re: 1984 K30 Project Plow Truck

It's a real tire shredder. Haha kidding obviously. It's not fast but it pushes like a tractor. Gas mileage is some of the worst I've ever seen. Keep in mind I'm going backwards a lot but averaging 5-6 when plowing. I'll get a tank through it this week and see how that compares. Short version is it keeps up with traffic just fine.

Howdy MTCK I like what you done with the truck. I like the sound of AK to, sounds better every day. So long story short your truck and Alaska both rock :metal:
