Wow is all I can say! I started reading this and saw the $450 truck and thought their goes a bunch of money that will never get finished (like we see so many times on here) but then you got started. You are going to have a very nice truck when you get it done. So is the wife still encouraging you on the build or has that worn off yet:lol: Keep it up and stay safe on the street's!

The wife is hounding me to finish. HAHA. She even hangs out in the garage with me when I'm working. She got so excited the other night I let her tighten a bolt, haha. She was a good set of hand when I installed the evaporator too. It's been fun for both of us. The color was something we talked about for so long and then we finally decided. My dad's 06 vette is the same color, so needless to say, he's been asking a lot more questions about the project too.

I picked up my fenders and grill the other day. So I would not have to worry about scratching them in the garage I just bolted them on. I'll take them off of course to install the doors then finish assembling the body. I picked up the hood, doors, door hinges, etc. last Saturday so more pictures coming soon (hopefully).

Well, the bed was red when I bought it. I had thought about red but changed my mind. It looks good on our trucks but there's just too many of them. I wanted something a little different.

I was trying to be finished by Christmas, but I'm starting to work a lot more overtime at work. We'll see. I'm waiting on some help to install the body parts.

How did you get the smooth rockers.. Did they weld them in, or filler them in>?

They were welded in. Then filler to smooth them out. I was very pleased with the outcome.

beautiful truck! question; i see a lot of resto jobs here and alot of people block off and take out the heatercore and fan motor box and weld it up for that clean look. what do you do for heat and defrost???? is there an underdash elec setup?? if so please point me in the right direction. V/R Mark

Phipp13, I'm using the Vintage Air Gen II kit. It uses servo motor controls. No more cables to the control and it's all motors which help the blending of air better than the cable controlled flaps. The reason I'm installing the Gen II kit is because of the servo motor controls and it's cheaper than the sure-fit kit. Since I've smoothed out the firewall, vintage air wanted an additional $250 to change the heater core on the sure-fit. The connections on the sure-fit kit go through the firewall still and obviously that's not going to work. I need them to go toward the passenger side kick panel. I'm putting a smooth fiberglass cowl on my truck so the cab vents on the kick panels are useless to me, therefore I'm planning on bringing the a/c lines through the passenger side vent hole after making a solid custom kick panel cover. the cover will not completely cover the vent hole. I'm making a custom panel (possibly a radio delete panel) for the controls to mount on the dash. They will be placed in the original hole. I went with the 4 knob billet controls for the Gen II kit. It's going to look SWEEEET!!!! All I ordered form Vintage Air is the Gen II Evap kit and controls (about $700). I'm running the serp system from a 94 chevy truck, so I went to the local O'Reilly Auto parts to pick up the compressor. I found the correct compressor plug in the salvage yard and will connect it to my Ron Francis Express wiring kit. The condensor and dryer can be bought cheaper than the $200 vintage air wants for them. I will have my lines custom fit later in the build.

With the help of my wife...I got the radiator, electric fan, braided trans cooler lines, and a few other things done. Here's a few pictures... as of today. :metal: :chevy:
