Ha - I figured you'd say pizz off! Mine is likely to become my wife's truck soon, but I would if I could.

Instead of guessing what gear you need or relying on the opinion of others, play around with tire/gear/mph or tire/gear/rpm calculators and see what gear suits you. Offhand, 4.88's sounded high. But I ran them through this calculator - http://www.angelfire.com/fl/procrastination/rear.html - and they're not a bad choice at all.

Your transmission ratio (final drive ratio, overdrive ratio) is .70.

I talked to this guy here locally for awhile yesterday.. turns out he's a pretty big deal.. has quite a few sponsorships and all. He went through the math and to put it back to factory RPM 4.56's would do exactly that, but he suggested 4.88's for a little more umphf. And since I wont really be going over 65mph in it, we decided they'd work perfect.

I ran 456 gears in my old 84' Blazer with 35" tires... had a shift kit in the transmission... and was able to chirp the tires hitn 2nd gear. I was happy with the 456s'... JMO. BUT it was hard on the driveshaft and yokes...

Maybe the 4.88's would make it easier on them?

Sorry I think wrote typed that in the wrong order... I meant the hard shifting was bad on the ujoints, etc. You should still be fine with the 4.88's as others have said... I was just stating that the 456's gave me plenty of get up and go.. thats all.

I finally got the gears done. I'm glad I went with the 4.88's! Its a whole new truck now.. OD is back!
Forgot to add, He put in a factory style limited slip, clutch style rear.

I also put a new Sony stereo in.. I'll update the thread with new pics soon.

Well, the new owner is picking her up today. I'll miss her, but there will be another square body in the future for me.
