Set the motor in it .. It's been setting for 2 years and its time to run it !! It will come back out when the body comes off but at least I can hear it run again !! It should be running in a few days . A 300/.600 roller cammed small block with open headers .. Music to my ears ;)

Great start on a nice ride. Love the Chevelles. I have a '71 SS I'm slowily bringing back to life. Swapped out the bench and column auto for factory buckets and console with "built" 700R4, Edelbrock Performer intake and 600 Edelbrock carb. Just getting to the "looks" department now. Purchased new carpet and pad from OPG and looking to get it installed within couple weeks.
Curious about your rear quarter panels. See they are from Goodmark, any thoughts or tips about the quality and fit? I need RH rear wheel well and trunk pans. As a side note I'm also running 255/70/15's on 8" 'Vette rallys rear with 225/70/15's on 7" rallys up front, disc brake center caps all around. Love the look.

No Matter what anyone tells you no quarters fit without work I bought goodmark because the lines are correct and the metal guage is heavy like factory . my trucnk pan is from dynacorn and its a decent piece . My motor is a 355 with a 300/600 roller cam it made 482 hp on the dyno and runs on pump gas with a 750 holley . My trans is a 400 turbo with a 3500 stall my front wheels are 15x5 with 215/70/15 the rears are 15x10

Have heard some pretty good remarks about Goodmark. Are you familiar with replacement panels from AMD " Auto Metals Direct" ? Have been doing some research on line and with a Chevelle forum. Read some pretty good reviews. Good body lines and same as OEM metal gauge thickness. We have a vendor in a town about 20 miles from me. Plan on going to see what they are like.

Re: My New 72 Chevelle

Bob, how much "fun" did you have when changing your body mount cushions and bolts? I need to do that same project. Did you buy a kit, and from which Chevelle vender? I have been putting off the body bolts long enough. Really need to do bolts and cushions before I get to far into this restore. I'm sure they are original and have been installed since late '70 or early '71.

Delayed putting in my new carpet until after the body and paint is done.

Did you snap any bolts or tear a caged nut while doing the replacement? If you have some tips or such you care to share please send me a PM.

I may give Bob a call this evening. I haven't talked to him for a while anyway. He only lives about 35 miles from me. He used to be on the board a lot when he had his '68 50th Anniversary pickup Great guy.

Here's a picture of his '68.
