it is a late 50"s A.O.Smith pump, not collectable per say, but the base was large enough to put a nice Reelcraft water reel inside, used the pump reset lever to turn the water on and off, trenched a water line to put it right next to the drive, has worked out very nice.

I used high quality 1X4's for the panels, glued gussets with Kreg screws made it very strong and lightweight, 8 ml plastic, goes up and comes down in minutes, couple more photos

Frame final prep done yesterday, love the new sandblaster, got it in epoxy primer this afternoon!!

Nice, I didn't realize that you turned the 1x's sideways. Makes sense I was trying to do it with 2x2's and it was too flimsy ended up using 1/4" paneling. I like your idea, much lighter and can replace the plastic easy enough.

Pricey for the straight wood, but good lumber and the gussets are the key.

Eastwood epoxy primer, and Eastwood Tunnel Ram metallic gray for the frame, both sprayed on beautifully.
I used Sherwin Williams auto paint for the gas pump, base and clear, worked as expected, very expensive. I'll paint the rest of the assorted small parts for the frame that same Tunnel Ram color, not sure yet what I will use for the finish on the sheet metal |

Picked up front and rear fenders, and bed sides today, I had ordered from Classic Industries and shipped to a guy near the house, I should have ordered them sooner, spent way too much time on the crappy bed sides I had trying to get them usable, putting the box together will be fun this weekend!! |

A small portion of the cleaned and painted parts, waiting on a couple of items to put front suspension back on, will get the rotors turned tomorrow. Headed out to start on the rear suspension parts, a few photos |

Spent a little extra time on the upper a arms, smoothed the aluminum casting part line, flattened with 180, then put a nice brushed look with a scotchbrite pad, should be the nicest part on the truck that nobody will see!!
Got the spring and the rack back in the frame. Does anyone have any experience with this type of cast aluminum part maintaining its look, does it need a clear coat applied? Thanks for any comments |

I took three 82 1100 Yamaha's and made one, I did the polish and lacquer finished the alu parts, lasted about 2 years then started to peal.
Don't know about auto clear coating. I'm planning to powder coat mine, not sure of the color. Got a kit from Eastwood, old oven, works great. Just adding my .02 of info. This is great. I like the frame color. Keep on keepin on Nut Case |

Finally back on 2 wheels, hope to have a roller next weekend, had to have a new shop tool to get the new a arm bushings installed, have half of the rear suspension prepared for reinstallation, a few photos

Just found your build and it looks great! And a ton of work building the shop too!
I have a 56GMC and 85 vette and I'm in the planning stage. I'm very interested in how you're mounting the suspension. When you were planning where to put the trailing arm brackets and front k-member did you just measure the angles and reference points on the vette before taking the parts off or did you find specs for the measurements and angles somewhere? Any help would be appreciated. |
