At last the days are longer and the rain has stopped but the jobs have got trickier and slower. At least itys saving money by doing them myself tho hey ;-)
Pic borrowed from ElHippie to rough out seat placement for all of those with step notches |
Re: '51 Bagged Suburban Build
The above pic is repairing the snapped clamshell pin before drilling and tapping for the screw thread fitting

Re: '51 Bagged Suburban Build
Thanks for the update! Did you receive your rear seat? I was looking at them over on the other forum we are in.
|
Re: '51 Bagged Suburban Build
Yes. I got my rear seat from ElHippie and am very impressed. Toying with using is as a second row with the original arm rest 2nd being a rear gunner seat but more mocking uop needed first
|
Re: '51 Bagged Suburban Build
I need to mock up my 2nd and 3rd row seats to see about fitting a step notch. I also though about moving the mounting points of the 2nd and 3rd seat to make room for the notch cover.
It sure would be nice if you figured it out for the rest of us...ha ha just kidding. Marc |

Re: '51 Bagged Suburban Build
Thanks guys. Titanium for sparks really. Its naughty but I had to sell my much loved 20year project 63 oldmobile lowrider in order to be able to do this car so I just want a bit of that fun ;-)

My favourite part of a Clamshell Suburban just got a little more fave. Modified a B-31 lamp to run as the original backup light would have with the addition of a magnifier lens.

Two weeks off from work was mainly spent in the garage. Made a serious dent in the install of my Accuair.
Ran 3/8 stainless hard lines with Swagelok fittings all-round. AND the good people at AccuAir swapped over my VU4 manifold from the PTC to 1/4 inch threaded some two years after it was purchased!!! - Tell me another company that would do that? |
Re: '51 Bagged Suburban Build
Looks wicked dude!

Wow. I've got a lot of catching up to do.
In short I have tried to tie up loose ends before darkness and winter hit me in my garage with no electricity. So that means anything ready to paint - gets paint, before trial fitting and wrapping up until it is needed again. |

The step notch cover has also received a coating before I devoted a huge amount of my time to fixing up the spare wheel well from a Datsun 280Z to act as a deluxe spare cover.
Pointless I know but what the heck. |
