I used this, worked great and inexpensive compared to AN stuff.

Is it necessary to flip the front bumper or can it be installed normal?

No, I think it just looks better...

I'm in the middle of doing the same front end swap, putting a 79 firebird on my 56. I noticed my 6.0 engine sits more to the rt./passenger side about an inch.
Does yours? How did you address this issue?

Like the rear hangers and fuel tank, wish I would of went that route.

I flipped mine.
I think it fits the truck better.

I made mounts, I made them so the exhaust is centered. I think its still offset some, just make sure the engine and transmission is parallel to the rear end. You want the engine and tranny offset the same.

Watch out, the steering box gets close to the power steering pump. Thats why I raised mine up so high...

Modified cross member for drive shaft. Here is a pic of the notch I cut in the frame, (lt side only) for fuel tank. And the location the filler tube lands...

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Has anyone successfully put a 5.3 in a 55 to 59 with the master cylinder on the frame?

Im not seeing room for tranny cross member brakes and exhaust...

A few pics of mine with a Chevelle front clip and a 6.2/4L70 in it.
It has a CPP cross member and hydro boost that has the master set back under the bed .
There was room for it under the cab I just didn't want it there.
You should have the same room with a Camaro clip and one of the smaller vacuum power boosters.

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Thanks Kim! looks good...

I dont mind making a cross member, but im not seeing the room! I could if I moved it down like you did...

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

The height of mine was dictated by the height of the oil pan.
I have a CTS pan on it and raised the engine so the pan doesn't hang below the cross member.

Hard to tell but your engine looks like it sits back further than mine...Did you have to modify the cab to get the tranny to fit?

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Try the hydroboost you will have more room. Maybe better brakes too because under floor boosters are usually smaller.

Set back just enough to clear the steering box.
Had to make more room for the intake.
Transmission tunnel isn't that big.

Yes yours is! If mine was set like that. I wouldnt be in such a bind for room!

I got a few days here to figure it out, thanks for the pics and nice work!!!

I did it.
I wouldn't do it again.
It's kind of a mess by the time you have a 4L60E, hydrboost, master cylinder and 2.5" exhaust all living in the same space.
I'd just put the brakes on the firewall like every automaker has been doing since 1960 or so. It's ugly but personally I'm not bothered by it.
I think I have a pic in my build thread of how it all fits together. You may have your engine / trans further back than I do, hope so anyway.

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen

Screw it! I cut apart the 55 bracket, used the old clutch trunnion to go thru the frame... All I need is to make a shaft (welded to pedal) to hook everything up. I will have to put it under body mount bracket... It should fit without modifying it...

Small under frame tranny cooler, will be plumbed with a/n lines and fittings... Im trying to eliminate as much "up front" as I can. Things are tight enough... I canned the power steering cooler too

Brake lines and linkage work...
