Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I only own one vehicle. My relatives want me to get rid of it and I wont. People want to buy it all the time but I'm having too much fun with it to sell. (now if I get offered a boat load of money for it then that's different) I have all kind of plans to fix it up, just need a boat load of money to do it and in the mean time i'll fix what I need to and keep going

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
Bring this back up to the top. My car “kinda” died and I’m super busy so I just started driving my blazer. It’s been a little over three weeks now and I love it except for the gas mileage. I can’t really tell you how bad it is but it’s bad. What are you guys getting for gas mileage? I have a stock 350 with an auto trans. I drive about 60 miles every day in lots of traffic.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I got rid of my other car a couple of years ago and daily drive my 69 CST/10. It has a 350 with TH400 auto transmission and Quadrajet, mostly stock except it has an HEI distributor. I use regular E10 gas and it gets about 11 miles per gallon. I have a short commute, about 20 miles so the gas mileage has not bothered me much. Getting rid of the other vehicle saves a lot in repairs, insurance, registration, etc. so that money saved does buy as lot of gas.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
1972 Suburban. It had 80,000 miles when I bought it. Now it has 235,000
Unfortunetly, I fixed it up so nice I had to buy another truck for work so I didn't get the nice Suburban dirty. Now I drive a 1970 CST pickup. |

That is a good one. I brought out some details and brightened it up to have a good look at it. Do you still have it?

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I've dailyed my 68 c10 suburban off and on in the 10 years I've had it. It is reliable as a hammer- I currently have a Cummins that I drive because I haul quite a bit but recently my wife blew up here daily so she declared "I'm gonna drive your truck- what're you gonna drive?" Suburban hadn't been started in more than a year. Jumper box and Bam, it was running just like it was in regular use. Slow and Low but was fun and lots of smiles/waves. Not the greatest mileage but I haven't measured. 350 with a Holley qjet replacement, aluminium intake, headers. manual trans and 4.10 gears. I
Away for the winter now but maybe back at in in the spring. |
Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
Not daily, but my truck is as reliable as a call from your insurance agent. The wife had battery trouble with her DD econobox (warning light about a discharged battery), so she left it home and took my econobox to work yesterday. Took her car up to the parts store for a battery check, low on charge but OK. Took it home and charged the battery, all good. Drove the truck for a bit. I'll be keeping an eye on her car (KIA Soul). I was told by the dealer's service manager that the factory batteries last about 2 years. I'm pretty certain that that has to do with the fact that the electronics can draw power for up to 1/2 hour after you shut the car off (like 10 Amps!), and they don't immediately start charging when you fire the car up and go. I can attest to that, because when I drove the thing to the parts store, the alternator was still cold, and the battery tested at 12.3 Volts- close to dead. I may just buy a new battery out of spite, since the last thing I want is for my wife to be stranded because I was too cheap. It's certainly put a tight focus on the kind of new vehicle we'll be buying next time...or, won't be buying, really. We bought that car because of the great warranty. If I have to sit around thinking that the battery might fail any day because of some weird glitch in that car, it's off the list for next purchase!

I've been daily driving mine for going on 2 years. Been to Florida, Nebraska, Indiana, Louisiana and probably a few other states. I'm a traveling welder so I get around.

I don't drive my 68 every day but I do drive it a lot. In fact I just switched wheels and tires from Billet Speedways back to my rallies for the winter. I really enjoy cruising in the ole girl.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I drive my 71 K20 every where, Billings MT, Boise ID, Portland OR.... I also drive it to work every day, round trip 14 miles. I have a 06 GMC duramax, but I prefer my 71....

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I'm running my '68 c10 every day (actually, I just garaged it for the winter)
still running 327 4 speed with 2-jet combo. Thought about switching it over to HEI, but decided that would be pointless  In the winter time, I like something a little more modern ...So I drive my '79 K10 :hm: |
Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I don't drive it everyday but most days. I haven't driven my Elkie in a few months and my Z71 is getting a bit jealous. LOL

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
My grand daughter and I went for breakfast and some other errands yesterday and she loved riding in Papa's 67. Now I'm trying to think of a reason I need to go some where today.
