So far so good. Only issue I had that was not for seen was the power steering pulley. It hit my steering box pretty bad. Had to order Dirtydingo.com smaller diameter pulley. I have sent them a lot of dough haha. I will post pictures of the pulleys once I get the brackets back from powder coating.

Looks great. I like how the firewall looks with rhino liner applied to it.
I also like how you took your time to hide wires and the computer.

Well it all pales in comparison to your awesome build. I read every page of it. Love your 48 and got the burb lookin good too! Just a little jealousy here hahaha.

That looks great. I'll have to order that pulley when I order my waterpump spacers from Dirty Dingo.

If you are not on an s10 frame im not sure if you will need it or not.

Got the motor running!!
Will run a lot smoother when i get the exhaust on it and 02 sensors in. Just a heads up for anyone doing an ls swap with used injectors. Depending on how long the injectors have sat up. I had to boil mine on the stove for 2-3 minutes to get them to work. Seems to be a common problem. Anyhow. Video below of the motor and gauges

Layedout, looking sweet! Would you happen to have any pics of your tranny crossmember? I need to either fabricate or find one that will work on the LS/4l60.

I took a piece of 2x2 and welded tabs to the frame to bolt thru.

tlorber 04-04-2014 12:25 PM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Beautiful, thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for. The cross member location is right at that point where the frame curves out and down so there are a few things going on in the same spot.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Seat is a little too high. Gonna redo the seat brackets. Seat is red because i planned to paint the truck, but the patina looks too cool to cover up! Red don't match the green but i got a green mexican blanket i might use to cover it. here is the blanket. Decisions.....

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82...419_134130.jpg

if i use the blanket i will have it pulled tight and clipped

looking badass man, can't go wrong with serape blanket and patina. Steering linkage looks top notch.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Thanks man, Those steering joints were a ton of money. Wasnt expecting to dump so much money on such a little part. Blanket will match the truck better. Red seat just looks so good!

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Looks great. I remember someone on this forum used the simular seat and they cut a section out of the seat mount and rewelded it. You could not even really tell after that it was sectioned.

Keep up the good work.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

oh yeah, I was gonna ask you about the price. Those things are waaay overpriced, my friend just paid like $90 for one. I'v seen them much cheaper, still def those little nickel and dime parts you never expect. One of the LS swap down falls for sure, but its worth the little extra effort. The rack setups with IFS man that looks like a nightmare to do. I like your set up, pws on the s10 is def easier to get your steering linkage to.

Layedoutsonoma91 04-27-2014 02:04 AM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Yea, it seems like everything is coming together slowly, and more nickle and dimes than I got to give. Im just waiting for the day I can sit in the driver seat and let it all pay off. Maybe in the next few weeks. Wish me luck!

99 to Life 04-27-2014 11:06 AM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

hey that day will come man, it will seem as it will never come sometimes, but it will. Then if you are even more lucky, you won't be ironing out a bunch of stuff on the shakedown. I hate the nickel and dime stuff, it gets overwhelming. Even if you make a checklist I don't like to look at them, when you look back you'll be like wow that was alot of work, lotta little things. But you'll have something to show for it, something fun to drive and something that will make alot of people want one. I wish us all good luck and weather. We are fortunate to have what we do have, even if its a crappy tool or a leaky garage (or a garage at all) or even a project to work on.

once I get the exhaust on it should run a lot smoother, no back fires.
Then got the radiator support made and mocked everything up.

Right on! Looks good. Like the chrome MC and booster. What are the specs on it and how did you determine what one to pick?

Cheers!

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Its just an ebay one. Just got one that bolts to an s10 since i was using an s10 interior brake pedal.

FarmerSid 05-02-2014 07:16 PM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Thanks! I thought there would be a bit more involved in picking one.

Layedoutsonoma91 05-04-2014 12:49 AM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Most brake systems are the same as far as boosters and master cylinder. I had to make the plunger that goes from the pedal to the booster tho.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Had a couple seat backs.... Took the truck on its maiden voyage and it started blowing oil out the exhaust. I think its just the valve seals, but haven't gotten to swap them all out yet. It only does it when you first start it, a little smoke, then once you would think a good bit of oil has gotten to the valves. i think my motor may be a little more than 3 degrees tilt which makes the oil gather around the cyl. that is dumping oil. I did a compression test and its not the rings. Taillights wont work either, I think the ones I bought are defective. Hope to have it rolling soon enough tho. Been a real bummerhere that past few weeks.... Keep on keepin on

Did you paint your intake? I have a spare LS6 intake that I am going to paint to see if I like it. What did you use? Also what did you use for the injectors? I know the truck used different connectors than the car injectors. If you have a link to what you used that would help me out a lot. I'm also curious about your radiator. What brand is it? I like that your fills from the passenger side. All the Champion radiators I see for my 1950 all fill in the top middle like stock. Did you have space for a fan or did you have to go with a pusher?

You build is looking good.

Layedoutsonoma91 06-19-2014 09:02 PM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

The water neck is off ebay. Just searched straight ls1 water neck. Intake is painted with engone paint. I think any paint will work. I bought it already painted. I sent my harness to lsx-harness.com. i sent them the right connectors too but i think they will supply them. Radiator i got from speedwaymotors.com. it was on sale in the yardsale. I had to put my fan on the front to push. Not sure its gonna be enough airflow tho. Motor seemed to still get too hot. Well see once i drive it
