Re: my 68 shortbed build
should i go with a peral orange or just a regular orange paint job ??
|
Re: my 68 shortbed build
I really think only you can make that choice cstm68 if you go with what we like you may never be happy. :(
It is your truck, right. :metal: As for my opinion I like the pearls myself. They may be a little bit more costly $$ but, worth it. If you don't have the extra coin right now wait and go with what you really want. Do not settle, you will regret it in the end. I have done it in the past and wish I would have just waited and went with what I really wanted. RJ22...:) BTW: one thing I have done in the past when I worked at NAPA right out of school is get your paint supply shop/store to make you a custom mix. Have them give you the formula to keep in a safe place so you can always get a match (ya never know when you might need it) Something like add a little more red tint, more metalic, more of whatever, less of whatever. Then you will have a one of a kind color:metal: |
Re: my 68 shortbed build
Thats a sweet truck! Im new here and just read the whole thread, you have done a really good job. It really inspires me to start on my 68. Cant wait to see more pics & some color.

here is a littl bit of my new tailgate latches
i used a set of seatbelts from my parts truck i need one more of the silver parts that go into the latch if any one has one, i was short one and had to make my own until i can find one |
Re: my 68 shortbed build
i also cut a peice out of a scrap tailgate from the parts truck to use as a filler pannel on the outside for shaving the handle

so i cleaned up how my new taligate latches bot the the bed.
the did have a bolt welded to the inside of the bed and then a nes screwed on to that. now i have changed it so it is more like the way factory style stuff bolts on. i took some washers and nuts and welded the a nut the the washer. then i cut a round hole in the stake post i the bed. the i welded the washer into the hole so it was flush and the nut was on the inside. i think it will give the larches a more clean look. |
