Re: The 60-66 "PAYING IT FORWARD" thread!

just finished doing a 396bb/t56 swap on my 66 gmc. pulled out the original 305e v6/3spd so now I have a really huge paperweight. still at his house so I cant take pics right now. was going to just take it to the scrap yard but I saw this thread and figured there might be someone out there crazy about those engines. will not ship.

engine/trans is located in woodbine, MD. brief history: bought the truck about 6 months ago in middle of Virginia. the po said he had been driving it and had installed sunpro gauges, holley 500, and a hurst floor shifter. on the journey home, I was watching those gauges like a hawk. but behold, no big issues the whole way back, although I noticed it had a clunking noise in the trans when taking off in 1st or R. oil pressure was good, never overheated, didn't get pulled over, didn't fall apart at 70mph on the highway, couldn't have gone any better. so after getting real tags, I continued to drive the truck and slowly getting more confident the longer I drive it without having any issues, other than the clunking noise, but I still used first and reverse just fine. I started with doing a front power disc brake kit and ran all new lines, kept the stock rear drums. the typical pesky safety stuff. love the truck, cant stand having to wait for a huge gap in traffic just to pull out on the highway without getting hit. so 6 months later, when my buddy pulled his 396 out of his Camaro, I got a good deal on it, plus the t56 he was going to put behind it but never did.

so now its all said and done (well not really, but to the drivable stage), I have a big ass engine and trans sitting at my buddys house and he wants his garage back. from what I have seen on craigslist, im not even gonna bother listing it, more of a come get it or it goes to the scrapyard deal.

on another note, I think this is an awesome thread idea and much thanks to the members of this forum. even though I have never posted, you guys have helped me through my brake swap and engine/trans swap with very useful info. I managed to avoid issues that I never even knew I would run into before even tearing into it.

So here's a long shot.. Do you still have the roofs??

Free roof for a '64-'66 cab. It has a small spot of rust in the driver's front corner of the roof skin, and the front panel is shot, but it might be useful to someone. I bought it but don't need it now that I found a better cab. Pickup in RI only, no shipping.

It went to someone local who is supposed to get it soon. Once I replace my cab I will have another roof(that one is dented though).

FREE. Complete front brakes, drums, backing plates, wheel cylinders, hoses, hdwr, stk spindles Off of 63 C10.

In Anaheim, Ca. Will not ship.

I might be able to use these on my stock '63 C10. I haven't had it too long. I noticed several lug bolts missing and the drums are pretty rust coated. I'll take the wheels off this weekend, check it out and get back to you. I am in Brea.

***Found a new home Thanks to 1963c-10***

I don't know exactly what there called. There the overload spring brackets that mount to the frame in rear. If someone wants them just pay for shipping. I do not have the springs.

I borrowed a picture from another member to show where they mount.

I'll take them if they are still available. Any chance you have the pads the springs rest on to go with them? They mount on the trailing arms. They are auxiliary springs.....and shipping to 28306?

'65 cab! ( no I don't have a title for it) small back window, rust in the usual floor areas but very fixable.

230 inline 6 ran when pulled two years ago

stock drum MC

Stock manual steering gear

stock spindles & steering arms

Stock mechanical gas pedal linkage

stock in-cab gas tank with sending unit.

Saginaw 3 speed with linkage and hurst floor shifter

there are probably a couple other things I'm forgetting and can add later.

Everything is in Minturn Colorado, I really don't have the time ship anything but CO is beautiful this time of year, and what better excuse for a road trip other than to get parts!!!

for anyone looking, the cab and engine are taken, so is the shifter linkage.

O.K. Here we go. I have a Sportsliner Camper for a Long Fleet that I grabbed a few years ago with the intent of fitting it to my Long Step. I never got time to do it. There's a couple of small holes in the roof (they were there when I got it) that could use some aluminum sheet and pop rivets. The side glass is missing but is an easy square cut, front glass and gasket are missing BUT.. the back door which is in great shape still has the window and gasket for a template. The back door mechanism works great but I don't have the keys. This would make a great period correct topper for someone. Free to anyone on this site that wants to come by and save it. Please don't scrap this thing.

AWW Norm! It's taken me a while to get the nerve to get rid of it! Ive been wrestling with the idea of narrowing it a little and shortening it a couple of inches (for some reason its a little too long). I finally got tired of it sitting in the from yard and me not having the time to mess with it. Now Im thinking about it again! Lol. I guess I could re sheet it with flat aluminum after all the mods were done. Oh well, if it goes to a good home, it goes. If not, its back on the to do list.

You sure that's the correct rim width and height? Is that 6.5 x 16 measured from outside edges or between the beads? If between, I may be interested.

I have this seat. I'm in Sacramento CA. It's pretty clean considering. Last I looked, there were no tears in it. The rail says "71 Chevy 1/2 Ton" so it may have come from a wrecking yard or something. It was sitting in my '65, but I'm looking for some Silverado seats or something with built in belts. I'm busy and I don't have time to ship things, but feel free to come and get it. Thanks.Attachment 1434242

Thought I would just mention on here the Paying it Forward ethos is alive and well in the UK.

Met up with Ian Brown at the NSRA Supernationals yesterday.

I had some useless bits for Ian, Martin had a spare wheel carrier for Ian, Ian in turn had some gearbox seals for Martin and........

Ian had given me a lower A-Arm to replace mine which has been damaged sometime in the past, already cleaned up and painted.

Thanks Ian !!

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdy55vv9v.jpg

Secondly, Ian had also brought along both of his trucks old front hubs, all neatly wrapped up.

Thanks again mate.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psd4yzw5ef.jpg

So again, not a lot of work done, but truck progress

Putting this out there though I have not had good luck giving stuff away on this forum...

12 bolt rear end, noisy, but works, drum to drum. New-ish brakes and wheel cylinders, will have to be reassembled as I needed the e-brake cables for a late model swap. Pinion seal leaks a little. Track bar mount has been cut after the pic. Obviously no shipping. Come and get it before it goes to scrap...

As Rian said I also had a part for Ian a spare wheel carrier as I have fitted my tank in the rear bed . So as Rian collected his parts Ian took away the carrier . He gave me a spare set Th350 oil seals that I wasn't expecting so it was thanks all round

NOT for non-supporting members asking for free for parts.
