So spent today making her look a little prettier.......Truck is in really great shape...just needed a lil TLC and some CHROME...Changed the Tail lights, reverse lights and park lamps assemblies and bezels.

Also installed the correct arm rest on the drivers side, installed the rebuilt vent window, LED dome light, Chrome sail panels...yes I know they dont have the black in them but I think they look pretty cool.

Changed both exterior door handles and both interior door handles...all NOS or original rechromed. Had Lock Doc rebuild the door locks.

Still gonna get the white 66 built but been so busy with work, I wanted something to drive while I work on the other one.

Goldie is an original V8 truck...currently has a 350 in it that is a dog......so Ill be changing that so she has a lil more power

Added the C60 grill to Goldie today....If you ever choose to do this ensure that you use the original headlight buckets from the ruck you are putting it on...makes it sooo much easier to re-install.

Thanks Guys...I have put most of the exterior chrome on that I had plated....Next up will be side molding from Mar-K, re-chromed front bumper.
Lock Do rebuilt my locks and I got them installed as well, NOS interior door handles, correct drivers side arm rest, still have to drill the passenger door for the armrest but that wont be too hard.....but new door panels screws on as well.

Not sure I have an issue or not...Went to the parts store to buy and LED flasher and the truck just died...battery and battery cables were HOT...only about an 8 mile drive....so bought a new battery.
Ill check to see if the alternator is charging but I am planning on re-wiring the whole truck anyways.

Im also going to put the 327 I had built in it, along with AC.

Have new bed wood from Mar-k on the way...gonna use white oak.

The paint looks good but I would call it a 10 footer.

Andy is rebuilding me an instrument cluster with gauges and Ill put that in when he gets it done......

So got some plans for Goldie but she is gonna be a truck for sure.

So been piddling with ole girl the last few days...Changed out the wheels from polished American Racing to Chrome Riddler wheels, front tires are just a lil bigger,

Changed out the tailgate chains to Chrome...odd thing is that the bolt I bought was fine threaded and the original bolt was coarse, so will either find a coarse thread bolt or send this one to get chromed.

Also started changing out the side molding on her as well...Mar K trim is awesome!!!!!

One odd thing I have noticed is that the headlights are dim at idle...when you rev the motor they get bright..I changed the battery ground cable and added a better ground at the headlights and made no difference so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Re: Johns 66

What's your charging voltage at idle?

What's the voltage drop at the lights? If it's low, you might be losing voltage somewhere - the switch is common; many people put a relay in to run the headlights.

This has been an incredible, inspiring journey, a lot of ups and downs, twist and turns, and then boom, another truck...didn't see that coming!

Many thanks for documenting this build, both the setbacks and the victories, and hope you keep making progress on the white truck!

x2.
I was going to ask if he had relays & if not would he consider adding them?

Well its been awhile since I posted anything...as they say life gets in the way....but been driving her and enjoying....but the dog 350 wasnt doing it for me...no power

I have taken the dog 350 and putting back the 327 I built.....its not the original engine but date code makes it correct for year, and the month makes it close to correct....Truck was original 327 cu 3 spd.

I did some research and found some interesting things about this truck. When I bought the truck I got a lot of paper work with teh truck that I really didnt look at but have recently.

Truck was built in Atlanta, was sold in Birmingham, Al to a lady in north Alabama. truck has lived its whole life in Alabama. I also found the original protecto-plate for the truck in the paperwork, and some paperwork from the dealership....Apparently the original motor lasted 28k miles and was replaced at the dealership...details are sketchy but I guess it was blown but have no clue.

So as I have removed the motor, I decided to really take a good look underneath ole girl. Im not sure but it seems like this truck was babied, there are not dents to be seen, looks to be some original undercoating type stuff but no evidence of bondo. I took a refrigerator magnet to the whole body and it stuck everywhere. So I think this truck has been taken care of all her life.....

So I have started installing a 1966 327 that I had built to 375hp specs, gonna have a 700R4 tranny. Im adding power steering, not oem and will be adding the Holley Sniper unit. It will look original as I want it with a few modern conveniences......not trying to trick no body.

After I re-wire her I will get AC put in, stereo and eventually one day will have it painted but for now gonna make her run like I want and enjoy here.

When I crawled underneath I found an original wheel in the spare tire holder which I thought was cool

Looks great John! Slow and steady wins the race, plus nothing like driving and enjoying her. I think you will love the Sniper. When you are ready to install it, I'm here to help!

Out with the old in with the new....noticed the drivers side wheel cylinder was leaking so I replaced all the springs and cylinder etc...I did noticed the brake fluid smelled burnt and when I took the wheel cylinders off the fluid was like a rusty brown. Gonna change the lines from front to rear...Ordered then from Inline Tube, they showed up this evening

I will tell you what a pain is removing the bedside molding...I had bought some from Mar-K and decided while I was waiting for the new brake lines that I would take the old moldings off....Lemme just say this is a pain....got the bottoms off but decided to wait on the tops until I change my bed wood...Hopefully that will make it a lil easier.

Holley Sniper arrived but have to wait until I start wiring my truck...OH ANDY....Waiting on you now...LOL

I have to get the power steering bracket installed...Under the motor mount.....#@^#&^) wish I would have known that before I sat the motor back in....but its all good.

I will say that normally I see these little holes on the brake plats to adjust the brakes close, but mine doesn't have these holes so Ill have to play with it to get the brakes close.
