Picked up some parts today, a set of truck manifold and a set of F-Body manifolds.

I will be making brackets to mount both the bench and my racing seats so I can swap them in and out depending on what I'm doing :)

Thanks, outside the box is a way to say it. I'd say an extreme case of "this got outta hand" and "just run with it" lol

Holidays has put it on a bit of a hold but I picked up another set of heads and intake with injectors and tb today for a price I couldn't say no to.
These heads look in much better shape then mine and I wanted another stock intake incase shaving and smoothening out the other doesn't go well.

Will be rebuilding and putting some better stuff into these heads. Once or when ever this thing gets running first then I'll swap them on. I really want to take a crack at hand porting on the ones on the motor now when I change them.

OK!
So it's been a wile since I've updated or even worked on the truck, but I finally got the garage in enuf order to get back at it.

I was very close before it all stopped, getting the truck sitting on tires for the first time.

So... I finished up the few welds and peace's of plate needed to get it there.

Then got my cheapo tires mounted, but finding out the other I had mounted were not really holding air long term. So I bought some of that road side sealer crap to try and get them sealed, but of course you need to drive on the tires to get the stuff spread out... So I made a little adapter for my corded drill to the diff.

Took 2 min and with 4:30 gears it spun te tires pretty good. Hopefully they hold air for a little wile now.

But now to the exciting part for me!
After over a year of figuring this out, I did it!

Very satisfied with myself today after dropping it down and seeing it level side to side and a little high in the front, it is sitting about 1* up in the nose. Should settle once the motor/Trans are in to right where I want it.

Well that's where it's at today, I ordered motor mounts yesterday and I should have the rest of the body on pretty quick. Also picking up an 02 blazer tank once I get the time.

Coldshot, "Bullet Proof" is the way to describe this build. It's great I'm all for strength. Just a thought, steel plate means weight. Get some hole saws, look where you can drill 1-1/2 - 3" holes in you plate, once you have found all the places you can remove some plate, take the hole saw and just get about a 1/16 trench into the plate, then get a drill bit just slightly smaller than the trench, then punch about a dozen holes in the trench. This will provide a place for the shavings to go as well as speed up the hole saw, reduce heat during the drilling and the hole saw will last longer, and you remove weight. I have done this when boxing the inside of frames to get strength and reduce weight. Great build keep on keepin on.

Thanks for the tip, saving weight hasn't been on my mind to much. Focused on strength first. But once I've got everything mounted and I strip it down for final welding I'll probably take your advice and start drilling :)
I do have big power goals, hence strength first.

Looks GREAT!! Nice job on getting it rolling. I'm glad it is sitting right with all the suspension work you have done. Hey put some batteries and an inverter in the front, leave the drill in place and you have a hybrid.

Coldshot, I went to a pawn shop, picked up 1/2 inch chuck Makita for 25 bucks, I figure it's good for at least one frame boxing. It's on its third now, guess I got lucky, look for a drill that has to good handles. By drilling all the littler hole when it catches it's not as bad as without the little holes.

On my current project going to pre-drill with a drill press. I have made of a home made dimple die to dimple each hole. Nothing do yet, Ill let you know when I get started.

Good question lol, I got them off ebay. I want to say Trans-dapt I think.
They look really good close up too, and they where $120 shipped to my door.
Got them cuz they are long so I got lots to play with.

I really like your "no rules" approach to the build. I have parts from probably a dozen different vehicles used on my build as well, plus a bunch of fabricated one-off pieces. To me, this is the truest form of hot rodding - finding what you think is the best option, and reworking the part or the truck (or usually both!) to make them work together. Just keep doing what you're doing, it's looking pretty damn good. But like othrs mentioned earlier, you can loose a lot of weight without really sacrificing any strength. Yeah, you can add power to overcome the weight, but I say loose the weight AND add the power! What do you have in mind for wheel and tire combo?

Thanks! Just checked out your build, love it!

Wheels and tires are up to money and timing. I'm looking at 17x9 pace steel wheels(nascar kinda looking) or 17x10.5 bullitt wheels from American muscle(the dished ones for mustangs). American muscle has killer sales every now and then and if it lines up right I'll get those (perfect back spacing/offset) and run 285's or 305's depending once again on funds, on all 4 corners.

The cragers it's sitting on now won't make it over the big brakes I'll have on the front. But will make great burner tires for the rear :)

And yes I'll start addressing weight very soon
