Re: Br3w City's Project omgwtfbbq

Thanks Frenchie!

Looks like my issue is the TAC module and pedal. I purchased an 06 (all plastic) set.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...y/IMAG0021.jpg

BUT because I'm running an 03 motor and 04 pcm (just found this out lol), I need to match the TAC and pedal. So an 03-05 pedal is in order. The newer style TAC uses 2 potentiometers to gauge position; one that reads 0-10v starting at 0, and the other reading 10-0v...starting at 10. This acts as a failsafe, but the extra signal confuses the older style TAC module. It sees the voltage change and triggers the u0107 code, putting the truck into limp mode. This is why is revs once, but immediately loses connection. A VERY nice member on ls1tech has agree to ship me the new pedal asap for my old one, so this problem should be solved shorty. I will post pics of the update soon.

I have also started a fully welded header back 2.5" custom exhaust, with Flowmaster straight through "mufflers" **cough ** resonaters **cough**

I have a little plan for the exit....but thats a surprise for now.

A little more messing around, still just kind of putzing things around a bit to see how ideas might work.

Re: Br3w City's Project omgwtfbbq

Thanks man!

Got my new DBW pedal and tac from LS1Nova71, swapped over the connections and she fired right back up. Throttle response seems great, and she rev's freely! Looks like another lesson learned; having a matched TAC module and pedal, to the correct ecm is important.
I'll post another vid after this weekend.

These are some crappy phone pics of the new pedal installed on the fire wall. We had to modify the pedal; shortening it about 3 inches and changing the angle.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...y/IMAG0117.jpg

Managed to install the gauge cluster, and just have 2 or 3 small connections to the fuse panel and she's done. I also cleaned up a little more loose wiring. This weekend should yield the finished rough fab on the exhaust, re-mount of the hood and possibly fenders....and if all goes well, the FIRST ROAD TEST!

Re: Br3w City's Project omgwtfbbq

Well after MUCHO fab on the exhaust to get the side exit fitting and sounding ok, its DONE! Exhaust is all on. Today we fired up, let her warm and took her for a drive! Runs super smooth, the 4l80e shifts great, and she has GOBS of torque. Its super rich since its on a "get it running" tune, and after its dialed in, I should be good to go for some real power.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...y/IMAG0119.jpg

We still need to slash cut the end and do tips, but they fit up great and sounds pretty decent. With true duals and the resonater only side-exit, AND the cam....it ends up sounding a big like a chopper lol.

http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=IMG_0623.mp4

the only hiccup, I didn't double check the lug on an aluminum wheel and almost lost it. I actually had that happen once before on my s10, so we quickly pulled over and tightened her up. She runs like a champ! More pics and video, after we return from a message from our sponsors!*

*Sponsors meaning my employers want me to work instead of sitting on the forum all day...f*ckers.

Re mounted my fenders (for now, I still want to put a sealer in between before the final attachment. Re-wired and tested my LED tail lights. I' really like the way they look with the cups moved and welded into the tail hole in the fender. Not hard to do and looks pretty clean.

Quick teaser of the side of the truck. She may be 1 color by this weekend.

Looking good! I'm glad to hear you got the bugs worked out in the DBW setup. Should be a blast to drive.

You should be able to hear it in that video, I'm not sure why I can't edit my post...I still suck at embedding video....sad

I got her sealed up all 1 color, loose interior ends buttoned up (still need to do the radio and A LOT of custom work) so I could get it on the road. Took her to a local show, and put almost 500 miles on her in 2 days!!

Oil pressure is 40+ on startup and maintains about 54 at cruise. Temps never see more than 193*, and this is on 90* days in stop and start. I didn't push it since it hasn't been on the dyno yet for the tune, but the get up n go is there.

Pics from the weekend are on the way, and although I have lots of bodywork and such to do...I'm extremely proud of where I've come.

Here are some recent pics from the trip to the Dyno Yesterday.

Thanks to Tom and the Guys out and West Bend Dyno LLC in West Bend WI. They have taken great care of me and the truck, and are my go-to guys for tuning.

I have also recently installed my pioneer DEH4800MP Ipod head unit, re did my blaupunkt 6x9s and my baby kenwood 3.25"s in the dash, as well as adding my Sparkly Blue matching vinyl to the sun visor.

I should be going in for the cage soon.

Re: Br3w City's Project omgwtfbbq

I have had some time but not a lot of motivation the past week or so. I lost my job Tuesday; although im not thrilled with the situation, but I wasn't all that happy at the company I was at and hope for some good change.

I did take some of the time I had to work on the tubs. Did some marking and modifying, but after a few tries I got everything set up to cut. A little but of patience and the bedsides removed.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...y/IMAG0138.jpg

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...y/IMAG0135.jpg

Took a while to get it welded up, and i started to run out of gas but did get her all stitched up. Some of the older bed coating decided to light up on me, guess i didn't strip it back far enough. I need to wipe it down and get it coated, but they are in and secure.

Nice build. Why the tubbs? Plans on swapping the rear end?

BR3W CITY 07-27-2011 10:31 PM

Re: Br3w City's Project omgwtfbbq

can't fit enough tire into the stock stepside with the bedsides in place. The tubs are a bit generous (they come 3" to the frame center), but will let me run as much rear tire as I can...between the fender, and the frame.

Re: Br3w City's Project omgwtfbbq

Ill have some new pics coming soon! Bed has all been coated with liner and the bed floor is being made. I have some 15x12 beadlocks being made, fitted with 325/50/15 ET street radials. Should finally be able to hook this thing! I've also made some small tweaks to the dash as well.
Until the other pics come in, we decided to crack out some one shot and throw the name on the tailgate for fun.

Well, apparently in a union shop, if you tell a customer something will be ready by a deadline...its ok to miss that by a number of days.. SO my wheels are not here yet, but my new tires DID arrive.
Mickey Thompson 325-50-r15 ready to be mounted. Now I'll have some traction.

Re: Br3w City's Project omgwtfbbq

I haven't been feeling well, trying to kick a cold before LS Fest. Luckily, my pops did me a solid and helped out with a bed floor for the truck. I was supposed to have a sheetmetal floor made, but again...some shops just like to piss on customers I guess. A sheet of 1/2" and a piano hinge and viola, instant bed floor (well, there was some labor in there too lol) This will more than do for now, so I can use the bed at least travelling, or until a more elegant solution exists. Still, pretty damn nice for a quick afternoons work.
Thanks pops!
