Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
Hey man!! Finally another fellow turlockian :haha: we'll have to get the trucks together sometime, yours looks to be coming together very well. I remember fighting the front stance issues like crazy when I had my old 15x10's damn things would reak havoc on the inner fenders in dips

i've seen your truck around town, it's hard to miss. did you put some big chrome steelies on it? Attachment 1575050 |
Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
Yeah she gets around town quite a bit :haha: and yes I installed some billet 20x9's that I machined myself at my last job and added the factory caps from the full wheel covers to give it some extra design since the all plain was boring to look at lol.

Much appreciated man. And sure no problem. They're just big mirrors right now with some big plans coming this winter

Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
Love the stance and the black steel wheels with white lettering out. Such a cool look. Keep it up. Cant wait to see the progress.

Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
thanks i appreciate that. i haven't made much progress lately aside from powdercoating a few engine parts. i am bringing home a 454/th400 this weekend i'm considering using instead of the 396. decisions decisions...

Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
Love the stainless caps! Looks like you have a nice set of full wheel covers, too. :metal:
Really digging the plans for this truck. I'm in. |
Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
Nice build. On. Board to see more progress. 454 th400 will be awesome to throw in there. Truck gas a great stance as well.

not a whole lot of progress lately, currently doing a couple truck part-outs for some more funds. i pulled the bed apart this week (temporary detour from the big block build). next step is por-15 on the rear chassis and then converting back to a wood bed. i'm thinking black wood, black steel strips, and stainless hardware.

I'm loving your truck man. The wheel/tire combo is awesome. Looking forward to seeing the big block in there. Keep the pics coming.

Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
I'm going black wood too. Seems that it'll be the most durable finish. I had been thinking polished strips but that picture you posted might just change my mind!

thanks guys!
doing a little cleanup and sanding inside of the bedsides and spraying some rust protector in all the hard to reach places while it's apart. i used semi-gloss black on the inside bed panels, i like the way it's looking. good enough for me inside the bed. Attachment 1594538 Attachment 1594539 |
Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
You may be surprised when you drop in the big block. I took a 250 out of mine and put in a 402 with the stock 250 springs and it rides at the same height! I figured it would drop but it didn't. Good weight transfer when I put my right foot on the floor with the 6 cyl springs though. And it doesn't ride any rougher with the BB in there.

Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)
good to know. i wouldn't mind if it didn't drop at all.

oem bed braces and mar-k bed strips are powdercoated (the strips turned out really nice). self-priming chassis paint on the frame. still haven't ordered the wood, but the rest is about ready to start re-assembly.
funny thing, i didn't realize my son was pumping my grease gun until i was uploading the second pic. i guess i need to check the tray under my tool cart... Attachment 1604675 Attachment 1604676 |

been hard to find time to work on the truck lately, but i had a well timed break today while the sun peeked out. sanded down the new mar-k bed wood and put on the first coat of primer.
