Re: Fixrupr

If all goes well on Sunday with the paint I will probably take a week off from the truck before I start putting it back together.

First items that will get done is the Raptor liner in the bed and hang the front clip on. Im going to wait on the doors until my buddy bucket seats are done and the new wiring harness is installed. I think it will give me a little more room to work while wrapping up the wiring.

Got Paint! Was able to get the inside of the cab shot with base/clear Sunday.

The color is 1969 Le Mans Blue - S.W. crossfire with S.W. clear , shot with devilbliss gun.

Did the final once over with guide coat, used the S.W. 2k sealer, then 3 coats of color and 2 coats of clear.

Thanks for all the props. Its really nice to see color on the truck. It seemed as though that day would never come when I was sanding, sanding and more sanding.

Moving on to the painting the smalls. Like the glove box, tilt column, base for buddy buckets, steering wheel and door hinges. Will post pictures after they are done.

Using all S.W. Crossfire products
  • etching primer
  • filler primer
  • sealer
  • base coat
  • clear

Subscribed.

Hey I was just in Idaho last month. I was visiting family there that lives in Star. Very nice area. I went to a couple junk yards in Nampa to see if I could find parts for my 72, but had no luck.

Did you make it over to jalopy jungle? I go there on a regular basis about every two weeks. The always seem to have a few of our trucks for pulling parts off of. I actually moved from Eagle to Star as couple of months ago. Next time you are in the area let me know. We can get together with a few others from the site that I know.

After everything has dried for 24 hours in the garage I moved items out to the back yard. Put most of it in the back of my 72 4x4 for safe keeping until I finish the cab and dog house Tuesday and Wednesday.

After that I will have a few little items that will need the LeMans Blue like:
  • bolts for hinges
  • hinges for the door
  • cowl
  • tailgate and tailgate hardware

This was the first time I ever shoot paint in a garage, everything turned out great. Got one little nat bug in the hood clear, should not be a problem buffing out.

Here are few of the parts painted.

Re: Fixrupr

For Tuesday I will be completely cleaning the garage floor again, getting rid of the paint over spray. Spraying down all the plastic for any dust or dead bugs. Then get the cab taped off for painting.

Re: Fixrupr

I would imagine so, he seems to thrive in the moment cokeb. We will be shooting the cab, then the bed separately. After assembly we will have a little color sanding to do and buffing.
