My '66 is stock, and in decent shpae, so aside from an old-school tach and aftermarket water, oil, volt gauges, I'll be leaving it alone.

Had I an older hump-dash truck, I'd use something like this '52 Caddy cluster. Not too far from the original, but just a little cleaner... Since I'm keyboard customizing anyway, I'd reshape boh sides of the dash to fit...

Does anybody know if you buy a black or white lettered face plate for the 64-66 or are they custom made? This is an example of the white and I've also seen them in black.

Trying to keep the ball rolling on the Ye Olde GMC, with no money to spend, I took out the dash, completely separated from the cab. Didnt cost anything to do that. It isnt the right one for it anyhow, so wasnt like sacralige to me. Its a 64-66 chevy dash, and i dont like it. Any of you guys got some "thinking outside the box" dash pics, or even really cool factory dashes? Im still able to be persuaded at this point. Found some really cool Bomber Aircraft style guages in one of the mose recent Hot Rod Deluxe mags. Check them out here. http://www.classicinstruments.com/se...?SeriesCode=MA Move mouse pointer over guage description on the left of the page. Kind of confusing, was for me anyways, but thats another topic for another day...
This is what Id like to put in. Let me know what yall think.

:gmc2: I kept my stock dash, had it chromed, painted the flat part with krinkle paint, found a sun tach, and a sun batometer.....left it stock but just a little better.....

Here's one, although no picture. Might be worth a phone call or more extensive search:

Re: Any Dash Ideas

I thought about doing the bomber style mounting rings, for the simple convenience of removing and installing all the gauges from the front, more than for cosmetics. If I had come up with the idea before the last redesign of the dash, I might have gone for it. I was going to have my machinist son whip up the rings for free and install them over conventional black rim gauges. But I like the current configuration so much the way it is, at this point I don’t think more changes would be an improvement.

Hi J.Cagle that is the stock speedometer it comes in a modular unit I just put new decal #'s on it the unit includes temp on the left and gas on the right. The tach & clock are extra originally there was a blank circle that I cut out on both sides. If yours is a chevy this setup won't work for you cause this GMC specific Unless you put the whole metal dash that go's behind it's a major job hope that helps you out...Vernski:lol:

Any one have a pic of a 64 cluster with a tach and temop gauge added. I just have the stock gauges with dummy lights, and I want to run a half moon tach and a temp gauge once I get my v8 swap done. But I want to look as close to stock as possible.

Is that a white lined bezel? If so, where did you get it? I want something different that the stock green outline. Either black or white.

It is just an original lens that has faded a little over the years. I polished it all up and it turned out great, so I didnt replace it.
