Re: 80 Scottsdale build
Well, it's just tedious. You rewired your truck, it probably wouldn't bother you. I bent a part and have to go to the junkyard for another and didn't know the pivot rivets were different than the assembly rivets, so I have more parts to get before I can finish. When I get around to it on my 79 it'll go much better.
How does the trim attach to the body? Double-sided tape? |
Re: 80 Scottsdale build
I didn't rewire it, the guy doing most of the work rewired it. Seems like I've got something going on all the time so he took it over and it getting it done for me. Great friend! I help when I can. The moldings are a combination of screws, bolts, retainers and double sided tape. Very difficult if you ask me. We are probably gonna add a few screws and eliminated some of the bolts and retainers that you cannot get to access from the other side. Wish me luck! Hopefully we don't ruin a trim set and end up with holes we don't need.

Looking good.

Re: 80 Scottsdale build
What trim kit did you get? I have a two tone 76 that I need a trim kit for. I did a replacement fender that needs the wholes drilled. How did you attach this trim? thanks
|
Re: 80 Scottsdale build
Kit is from Brothers. So far it is held on with double sided tape and a couple extra screws. My truck had no trim before and drilling all those holes seemed like a disaster. So before we did that we are trying this method.

Very nice ride !!! Awesome color combo. Looking at your beautiful interior makes me want to replace my carpet now. Mine is in good shape for 38 years old, but is getting a bit seedy.;)

I did not notice you'd shaved the drip rails and removed the fender turn signals until now. Turned out beautiful - nice work!

Re: 80 Scottsdale build
Very nice truck Mike....saw a pic of it on streetrodlife.com in the article for Draggin' Main Street in Clovis....very nice event it reminded of when I was stationed at Ft. Bliss TX in the late 80s and a few of us would drive over to Las Cruces NM to cruise in our mini trucks...they had one of the best cruise scenes around in those days......again nice truck.........:metal:

Re: 80 Scottsdale build
Thanks! That's cool to see it online. It was an awesome event. They said 8-10k people. That's a lot considering our town is only 35k population.
