I'm with you James. I don't think I've seen but maybe one other silver poly 67.

however, not long ago, there was a thread with a pic of a 67 fleetside swb that had red interior. man, it was absolutely beautiful.....

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

It`s hard to say if that`67 was painted the "correct" silver, but I believe that was the intent.I`ve seen original silver trucks, but that color didn`t hold up too long in the sun.I think it`s rarest on`69s.
That Dark Green is actually Woodland Green,a color that hasn`t changed since way way back. It`s in and out of color selections over the years, but is also a permanent Fleet Color, like Omaha Orange.

I guess it would fairly scarce. I've never seen one. It was an color choice in '68.

I would have to agree the "Ice Corl" is rare. The other that hasn't been mentioned that i have seen very few of is an "Aqua"The 67 chart doesn't show it so it may be a single year color only.

I've been eyeballing a 55 chevy I saw online in a 70 'vette color. "Donnybrook Green". Very unique. I like that Flatz OD green they put on the F-Bomb Camaro too...

Here is mine. Factory Dark Olive with Med Olive on top. Not rare but unusual.

I see you have posted the color chip sheets for 1967and 1968. If you ( or anyone else) have them for 69-70-71-72 I'm sure a lot of us would appreciate you posting them so we can archive them on our computers.

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

As others mentioned and as was possible when these trucks were being manufactured, special paint colors would be the most uncommon....depending on which entity did the ordering.

As for a rare color, I had to "tend to" a '68 El Camino SS396 that was painted USAF Blue, with a white top. I know there were 3 of them....one at D-M AFB, another in California (forget which base) and the one I had to take care of at Bien Hoa RVN. I have a B&W pic, but no color pic. I know this post is about our '67-72's and the El Camino is not officially part of that group of vehicles but I wanted to throw it in the fire....like a hand grenade.

Half the people think my '72 is a light green, the others say yellow. I don't see the green, myself, but I might be slightly colorblind. The gold roof is the bomb.

At the SPI board, someone cleared over buff-primer. It actually came out nice...

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

well now that I know that the silver poly is kinda rare, the 68 swb 2wd I have that I was going to clone a 50th truck with was 523 silver poly with bright red int., and after seeing it on the one owner truck above which looks very nice I may have to rethink my plans. What do ya'll think keep it silver with red int. or not?

I love the silver ones, so I'd say yes. I think it would look great. The one ChevLoRay posted above has a red interior also.

A guy I went to school with had a, I think 70 model that was about 8 different colors. He pieced the truck together from a bunch of different ones I think, we called it the Jigsaw. Was a neat truck though :)

Thank you 67_C-30 for the color charts. It's good to know the color number for Ochre.

Thank you HeavyD for the picture of a full size Chevy truck on a UHaul trailer. I am saving it for future printing to show the local "knuckleheaded" dealer that it does take a full size Chevy truck ;)!.
