Thank you for the complement. I just took a look at your truck. WOW hope mine turns out even half of what yours looks like. Great Job. :chevy:

Re: 1965 C-10 LS build

A little update. With most of the mechanical work done its time to work on the body. Not my favorite thing to do but it needs to get done. I finished up the rear roll pan and the reverse lights in the roll pan.
The other major issue was the drivers side cab corner. The previous owner changed it but it was touching the bed edge when I put the bed on the truck. The passenger side was fine the drivers touched. After I cut the old corner off and went to put on the new corner I did not fit very good. The corner stuck out the back of the cab about 1/2 of an inch. I guess it was not the previous owners fault on the first try. These after market parts really s@&k. I had to section out about 1/2 of an inch. Below is a picture of what had to be removed.

After that cut I had to cut the back side of the new corner and bend it down to make if fit with the rear of the cab. Then filled it in with a piece of metal.

Well got that finished and ready for primer. Also blocked sanded the door and will prime the both in the morning. Well I was going to post a picture of the final sanding before primer but the photo bucket doesn't like me tonight. That's it for now have a great night.

It's been a while since the last post. So a little up date. Pulled the motor and trans out and put them in the corner for now. I was able to get the hood own and it fits good. Just finished a little work on the upper fender extensions. Now just have to decided on the colors and start priming and block sanding. I'm going to try to get it done by early spring.

I put down a couple coats of Lizard Skin on the floor, fire wall and part of the rear wall.

Re: 1965 C-10 LS build

Well I'm getting closer to paint. It was a little nerve racking but the trim is finished with the mockup on the new fenders and doors. It was hard to drill holes into new metal but its done.

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/...24014DAF5B.jpg

I tried something different with bumper. I made new bumper brackets and flipped it over. Just wanted to do something different. ?????????

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/...C30AC16556.jpg

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/...C790748F4A.jpg

Also got the interior painted.

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/...C31A919F6A.jpg

I did have a little slip with the paint gun. :hh: A little to long in one spot. This is an easy fix though.

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/...C3484D9D22.jpg

I guess not bad for my first time with a finish coat. It's going the paint shop for the second week of January. So hoping by March I can start putting it back together. :ennyd:

I really like that bumper flip !!
Mind if I steal that for my build?
Though I may modify it some.... seems I cannot leave well enough alone on my build.

That air box you made in the engine compartment turned out really nice too. Where did you move your battery to though, did I miss that?

The bumper flip was eaiser than I thought it would be. I also moved it in closer to the grill to close up the gap. The hardest part was figuring where to cut off the bumper mounts on the frame.

I put the battery on the drivers side. The drivers side is where the battery connections are on the LS motor.

Thanks for looking at my build and stay warm up there. :chevy:

Thanks for the nice words. I wasn't sure about the bumper but I like the way it turned out. I just read your build. It looks great. You doing everything in your garage? I was originaly going to use the Hot Rod Flatz paint but I read some horror stories about it streaking. I did use the Gun Metal Gray Metallic on the interior and only had 1 little issue with a slight run. I am going to use that color for the roof and the strip between the chrome. The going to use a PPG paint and a flatten clear for the rest of the truck. I can't spray that much in my garage to paint the entire truck so a friend of mine is going to paint it. He never used that Hot Rod Flatz before so he got a deal on some PPG for me. Any way keep up the good work on your truck. I will check for your updates on it. :chevy:

Re: 1965 C-10 LS build

Been working a some small details the past couple of days. Nothing much to talk about. But I did get the power door locks installed. I purchased a kit from VH Coachworks. Its made for a 1967-72 truck, I was able to get it to fit. It was eaiser than I thought it would be.

Here are some pictures:

Had to do some work on the latch. Here are some pictures:

There is another post some where that shows the work on the door latch but I can't find it again. But I will keep looking. Hope everyone has a good night.

Just read thru you build. Looks good! I might have missed it, but what did you use to coat the floor in the cab?

Also, what did you do for headers for the LS?

Thanks for the look at my build.
I used Lizard Skin sound control on the floor.

The headers are Doug Thorley. There for a 1967 model year C-10. Had to do some clearanceing on the frame but they fit good. A bit expensive too.
Thanks,
Robert
