My thoughts right now are:
- Frame is low gloss black
- All Bolt on frame cross members and suspension parts are to be bright red (except rear notch)
- Engine block is low gloss black
- bolt on engine parts are bright red
- Body to be flat red
- I want to take the rims I have and have them powdercoated flat black.
(I am sure the last couple steps will change before I actually get to that point)

Thanks, we will see how long that takes. I know I will be driving it next summer. Im sure the body will take some time to get done. I will more than likely have to get new bed sides since mine have some bad patch panels from previous owner and need a lot of work. It's only money right, haha

- Painted the motor this past weekend. Not really happy with the color. It was universal red high temp spray paint. The red color is too orangey.
- Got some goodies from Eastwood this week. Epoxy primer and some "pinup red" I will be repainting the engine parts with this color, more along the lines of the red I want.
- I went and picked up some long box bed sides to cut down. Got them for $200. They are pretty solid with the exception around the wheel wells. I have looked at plenty of the shortening threads on here, it doesn't seem too hard.
A little work but $200 is better than $1000 for some new bedsides.

Gonna paint some parts this weekend hopefully. Hope to get my frame back next week also.

Wheel arch panels are only $25 apiece but it will add a lot more welding, you are going to be welding for days :lol:

I'm not a welder but from what I read from the guys who are the key is to go super slow and alternate spots with every dot and never run a bead.
It will take forever but it's not something you want to rush if you want good results.
I have seen pictures of shockingly good results with this method where you literally can't tell the panel was ever cut and welded.

That is the way I do it, and like you said it does take forever. By the end of the job I will be saying it was worth the extra $800 for new ones, haha.

I suppose that all depends on how much money you make per hour, If you can make more money working overtime in the same amount of time it would take you to stitch them together than you are right.

Repainted the engine components with my new bright red paint. Way more satisfied, not as orange looking.

Worked on one of the bed sides today. I was going to cut the long box sides down but decided to patch mine. This will work until I buy new ones eventually.

I got good news Friday also, my frame is done and painted. My cab, fenders, hood, and grill are also ready. I am going to pick them up tomorrow. Now all I need is for the Porterbuilt crew to put some boxes on the big brown truck for me lol.

That color of red is much better for sure.
There is no reason to replace that bedside with a reproduction if you did a nice job patching it.

If it has lots of other dents and dings, no problem man just break out the stud gun and slide hammer and go to work you can whip it in to shape in no time.
I have seen some miracle shizzle, have you seen that commercial where the riding lawn mower sprays the side of that truck with landscape rock, well I saw a bedside that looked like that and the guy took a stud gun and slide hammer and worked it all out to where you couldn't even tell it had ever been damaged.

I don't know if I have those types of skills lol. I am working with someone else's patchwork to start with unfortunately. That is what sucks. I will make the best of it though.

It is soooooo easy you won't understand how you never tried it before, Vic gave me a introductory course in using a stud gun and slide hammer and I swear it's as easy as falling off a log.
You work the dent from the deepest part out to the shallowest, it's easy man.

I will see what they look like once I patch them. I have to see how much warpage I have. The previous "body man" (loosely used term) LOVED bondo for sure. I think he liked to weld solid then make it look ok with mud.

Got the frame back today. It is nice and somewhat shiny (low gloss black). It turned out pretty nice. I may have to put a little filler on some parts though because it was pitted quite bad. All in all it looks good though.

Got the parts back from the blaster. I was quite happy with the cab not too much that I have to fix that I wasn't aware of. But the fenders and the hood need a little work,not too much but just added time as you all know lol.
