Actually I haven't done either and paid the price. It's not drivable right now. I need to figure out the drive shaft situation. Either raise the carrier or switch to a one-piece.

No updates in a while, been trying to buy a house all year, got into one a couple months ago. Took a while to get a trailer to haul my truck over. Don't know how much I'm going to get done this year, but I'm hoping to get it back on the streets next spring.

I have a 20x30 shop now. Had to measure my truck before I put an offer in, to make sure it was going to fit. LOL I'm happy though, even if I can't walk all the way around it.

Congratulations. Shop looks big til the truck gets in, haha. Good luck with your driveline angle dilemma. I don't have any experience to pass along.

Well the truck has been on the back burner for a while, but 3 months after ordering my KP Components cantilever 6-link just showed up!

And apparently I haven’t updated for longer than I thought. I did get the front bags in, but forgot to post.

Haha. I was house hunting all winter and every time I went and looked at a house, the first thing I measured was the garage to make sure the suburban would fit. Great minds think alike!

Also, love your ride! My suburban and your truck are twins!

Good to see you back. Glad to see that the truck is alive and still kickin. Are your tires 235/75-r15s?

Picked up a 2000 K2500 that needed/still needs some TLC. So the 87 got put on the back burner for a few months. But I got the bed pulled back off of it and plan on getting started on the 4-link here soon.

Little update. Got the 4-link and cantilever bars in. Still need to weld in the big notch and locate the panhard.

Slowly, but still working on it.

Clean work! That looks serious. That notch looks like something that came out of a bank vault.

Thanks man. It’s actually an off the shelf notch from AVS.

Another minor update. Mostly welded and time to cut the frame out.

That setup looks like it would ride a lot nicer than the leaf springs. But I guess I don't really know how bagged trucks ride. I assume they ride okay or maybe even nice if they're not at maximum or minimum height. But that suspension geometry looks like it would make the truck comfortable to drive. And I suppose with the bags, you still have good load carrying capacity.

Links & bags (or coils) offer much better ride quality. My dually is night & day difference & that's w/still using load rated 235/85-16 tires.

The 6-link is supposed to be even better. I looked into one years ago when I had my '74. In the end, they're not rated to carry a load & I use my truck as a truck so a 4-bar or Truck-Arm set-up was the way to go.

The company that builds this link setup actually recommends you don’t tow or carry a serious load with it. I think because it puts all the weight behind the notch with how it’s set up. I’ve heard they ride pretty nice. Let’s hope!

Today’s update. Welded and painted. I’ll give it another coat tomorrow, then start working on the notch for the driveshaft and getting the panhard bar set up.
