Well I went to Town to pick up a Turkey for Thanksgiving.(wink;),wink;)) Stopped for a photo op or two. You'll maybe notice the State Hwy 67 sign above my '67.:chevy: Second picture was taken from the parking lot at the local high school on Hwy 67.

I had been daily driving my 72 for a couple of years, commuting 12 miles to work and back. The tired old 307 was burning up the gas getting only 6-7 mpg! And that was with the FITech FI which I installed hoping to help the mileage, it ran better but gas mileage still sucked. When gas went back up to $4/gal here in California it was getting too expensive to drive it daily plus it was gutless with no power and getting worse. I added a 700R4 OD transmission hoping it would help the mileage but it only went up by 1 mpg. My truck sat for a few months but now I have bit the bullet and installed a Blueprint 383 crate motor w/aluminum heads, roller cam/rockers, rated at 430 hp. What a difference! This truck has been reborn and is a blast to drive. I only have about 100 miles on it so far but the gas mileage looks to be greatly improved, it is much quieter and did I mention it is a blast to drive! Next up Dakota digital gauges and then new suspension and then....

I've got a 1969 c10 with a 6.2 LS and 4L80E that I daily drive every day about 60 miles. My drive is 90% freeway and I cruise at 70-80mph all day long. They are totally daily driveable and with a modern drivetrain there super reliable and get better fuel mileage. I'm still running the factory behind the seat tank and I don't recommend it. Get an under the bed tank, will save you fuel and fumes. Overall absolutely love daily driving my truck and get a lot of attention on the highway.

I love this thread. I was looking for something I could pretty much daily drive then found one that is just too nice to do that. I am still working out the reliability issues and will have it all squared away for next spring when I will try to drive it as much as possible.

Is that a C20 Longhorn? I think I can see the "join" line in the bed.
If so, what have you done, if anything, to the rear suspension to handle the loads shown?

I have '70 Chev C20 Longhorn, 350, 4 speed, all stock, and dream of towing with it.

Any details would be great.

Yes it is a Longhorn, and the suspension is completely stock.

It has 3.73 gears.

I run 91 or 92 octane fuel in it. The big block doesn't like low octane fuel.

Mine is a semi daily driver. We downsized our 2 DD cars to 1 as the wife and I work together and only commute 6 miles. My truck is now our 2nd vehicle for the times we go in different directions. According to the odometer I just hit 10,000 miles!

Its been almost 14 years now. Put over 100 K on it, averaging 10 K annually. Biggest problems I have is gettin quality parts, such as alt, brake booster, starter, and such. I go through more of those things than anything else. GM probably did not manufacture most of those parts themselves. Top end of the engine was done 86 k ago due to valve seats.

Other than that, I would venture to say GM did a pretty damn fine job to make something go for 50 years! The only other thing I wished for was the previous owners taking better care of it.

I've been using this one as my daily driver. At least until the Jimmy is done.

105K original miles now.

After the Jimmy is on the road, this one will become a full "off the frame" restoration.
