Thanks, no measurement necessary. I'd like to use stock length shocks but didn't want to smash them all the time. I assume it's the crossmember in front that is lower?

BTW, I'm enjoying following your progress.

How's the truck coming?

I took a short vacation from work and the truck for the holidays, but I did get a little bit done. I trimmed the engine covers and got them mounted, finished the air intake fab work but it still needs painted. Now here's where this project went south. When I changed the cooling system back to the mechanical fan I no longer needed the fan relays or wiring for the old electric fans. In the process of removing that stuff I found some other wiring that I wasn't happy with. As usual with me, the more I dug the more I found. So that led to basically a rewire from the firewall forward with proper wiring techniques and terminals. I built a new relay panel with the correct relays, fuse blocks, OBDll port, and check engine light. I still need to put a few more wires in loom, and waiting on a 18" maf extension harness.

Re: Project "Candy Apple"

Did you know you can remove that oil fill tube and the cap will screw straight into the valve cover?

Re: Project "Candy Apple"

Yeah, I had to trim the covers anyway because of the high mount A/C brackets so I just left the filler neck alone.

Truck is looking great... I'm interested in seeing how your 285/50 rear tires work out since I've got a set ordered myself. If you need a narrower spacer, dmvmotorsports sells a 1" hubcentric spacer on ebay for $40/pair. However, they have metric studs so you would need new lugnuts as well.

I can finally say I'm finished with the truck and spent the weekend detailing and driving this thing. It's not to the level I originally hoped for, but given my time and budget, it turned out real nice and far better than what I started with. I have the exhaust scheduled for later this week, then I'm officially done.

Do you have any info on the air intake setup? I need a better setup that goes to the drivers side like that.

Re: Project "Candy Apple"

UKNOWME I modified a 2003 Silverado air intake by cutting off and rewelding the stock mounting brackets. Then added a 90` elbow and coupling to get it to the fresh air opening on the core support. I also had a 24" MAF sensor extension harness made, and added a 4" cone filter.

Unless I missed it, do you happen to know the paint code for the red? Or the paint manufacturer? Awesome truck by the way!

Re: Project "Candy Apple"

The red is PPG Vibrance line called "Cherry Bomb" and its a true 3 stage base/candy/clear. Paint code: Gold base 908347 & mid candy coat 908347/2

Yet another beautiful build rolls out of your shop. You are the King of quick when it comes to transforming these trucks. :metal:

Thank you for the quick response. I have an '84 K30 4x4 SRW that I am just starting to round up parts for. I plan on a two-tone paint job that is basically the opposite of yours. I'm thinking your red in the middle with a gun metal gray top and bottom. If I do a cowl induction hood then maybe two SS style stripes down the hood.

Bobby, Did you already sell this one?

Man I didn't even get a shot, LOL.

Truck sale is pending, but Desert1957 I'm trying to close a deal on your next truck. SWB, solid black, gray & black interior, my drop and wheel & tire package.
