You've been hard at it Rowdy! I say you're not at all crazy to work 2 hours just to make the harness fit the way you want. It's all these kind of details that make it that much better in the end.:metal:

Thank you for the sanity check! I really appreciate it!

More little stuff...

Cab is down off the lift, door skin install started and doors have been Por 15 treated inside for long term durability.

I currently have two Hydroboost units and I got one paired up with a new Wilwood master cylinder. Have the new firewall mount bracket painted up, hardware on, and ready to mount to the firewall.

Anyone else have days like this? I started to install my front headlights and realized I lost my mounts and headlight retainer rings. Had to stop and order those. Sometimes my build days are just buying stuff that I have to replace or have misplaced...

I would have finished my truck in 1.5 years rather than 2 if it weren't for this...

More little things this weekend to improve the build...my differential covers were tired and old. So I swapped them out for some new Mag Hytec covers. These things are really well built, hold extra fluid, have a dedicated drain, and also include a magetized dipstick to both check for fluid as well as sediment.

And they look a heck of a lot better!

Swapped out the rear and front.

Big weekend.

Loaded up the truck and took it to the shop for the cab fitting. This is the first time in 18 months that the cab is back on the truck...both in completely different shape than when they were separated.

The good news is, firewall seems to be a fit with the LS and headers...I do have one header to repair but that's another story.

We had to fuss with the new cab mounts and bushings. The front needs a bit of shimming for the cab to be level...the back I maxed out the replacement bolts (slightly too long) and sure enough the nut on one side of the back cab mount came loose. For those of you that have experience with 4X4 cab mounts, the nut is secured into the floor, but has a serious design flaw as it comes loose very easily. Nothing that a tack weld won't fix...

Next up is to finish welding up doors and door repair, then mount those along with the bed, start gaping, and primer.

Then blocking...

Along with a bunch of other stuff...

Oh...and the tunnel, t-case shifter, and hump look like they actually fit as well!!!

That is motivating! Going to be so nice.

The truck looks really good. You're going to want to keep it in your living room instead of in the garage. Even the intake looks just great. I would not turn loose of torque for appearance sake either. Even if I had the intake with the Shrek ears all over it. Nice work on that transmission crossmember, that fab work is very businesslike. Almost appears you may need a crossmember to support your crossmember. Thanks for taking the time to post pictures and updates.

Great progress and it looks good. I would caution using flat face diff covers. Have seen videos showing they generally hold more oil but they inhibit proper pinion lubrication and increase diff temps under load.

Very nice work! You’re doing it right

Re: Lola: My Moon Shot 70 SWB K10

Thanks all.

LT, I must say it has been tempting to upgrade the intake for something better looking. But the torque specs on this one are impressive. If it hadn't come out the way it did, I may have swapped it.

Noted as well on the diff covers. I plan to install a temp sensor in the rear to keep an eye on it.

Still, a long way to go.

More progress....final weld and repair of original gas tank hole in cab. Working on the new fuel filling location, rear light.

And...I'm adding Altman latches to make the doors easier! Going to weld rather than bolt in to look as factory as possible.

I'm in! I've always wondered how that would work welding in the Altman Latches. I plan to do the same thing to mine.

Still grinding away. A few updates on bodywork (before and after tank hole repair)...avoiding filler like it's the plague.

Got a few more build parts. New grille, broke down and ordered some replacement front fenders since the metal repair on originals would take too long.

Also got my new steering wheel. I expect to be at the primer and blocking in the next 4 weeks.

I...am...still...grinding....slowly but surely.

More good news...front cab corners are done, still working the back, replacing the radio face, taillight, and touch-up work on bed front and tailgate. The horrible speaker holes the previous owner cut have been re-filled and added a shoulder seat belt apparatus with the bolt itself mounted flush to look original. Little details are worth it but take time. Also adding Por 15 to the back of said sections for added protection, although if this thing gets caught in so much as a rainstorm I'll be surprised.

Also, the tail light fuel filler is welded in. Fitting hood in front as well with new gas hinges. Still so much more to do...

Nice choice for a new ride Rowdy! I haven't checked in on your build in a while. You've made a ton of progress... and very nice quality work too! Absolutely beautiful.:chevy:

Thank you! Still working slowly but surely. As always happens, a few unexpected distractions this past year but this spring is set for another push of progress. More posts coming soon!

By the time I get this thing done, everyone will be asking why I didn't electric swap it...

Hit the local car show (literally a walk from my house) this evening. Well-represented rides and had a blast getting to know some of the owners!

And yes...I'm still making progress! Priming and blocking started on the cab! Is this the slowest build in history? Feels that way to me...but we are moving.

Great build thread... I am curious as to that fuel neck height?
