Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
Thanks guys. I do have high expectations, I am that way about everything it would seem... That has proven more than once to be good for my customers, but hard on the wallet.. ;) WES

We made a little more progress. We decided not to use the red hood because it had some hidden issues that would cause us way more headaches. Back to the old hood. We managed to fix the oil can effect so I settled with it. Good news part was it fit better than the red hood, so that was a bonus. We also got the grill fitted. First time in over 15 years that I have seen it with a grill! I fell back in love with it... These are exciting times for me, it will be sad to see it blown apart to start the priming and painting. I think I am going to pull it off it's chassis and have it powder coated while it is apart. I can also fit the engine and transmission easier that way. WES

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
Lookin real good Wes, hoods are without a doubt the worst panel on these trucks to straighten and 67-8 are gettin real hard to find Ive got four and only one is good others will take lots of work and still might not save

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!

I hear you there.. Here is my stash of hoods. They all need work, but they say I have a problem with hording parts... You can also see I have 4 engines right there too. I have a low mile 454 and a 5.7 LS1 that didn't make it into the shot too.. ;)

A couple more pictures of my Panel. This time with the front bumper mounted. I must say I am not very happy with what I see. My Panel is now blown back apart and will soon be on a rotisserie. I wish I was there to address this issue before it was taken apart. WES

I have always said that when projects drag on for years the vision tends to change a little here and there. Well here is the latest vision change my panel has undergone. Air Ride!

This has come a long way in short time, I can see why you are excited. That is looking sweet, good choice on adding air.

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
The body is looking great! I spy an early second Camaro next to it at the body shop. I love those things.

It's been a while since I had progress to post. That was because it has been a few weeks at the powder coaters. I like how it turned out... Had to take a pause after unloading it to go buy the 70 short bed 4X4 though. Now it will be back to work on the Panel... :metal: ;) :chevy:

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
Frame looks great. I like the 70 too....nice find

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
The "ugly" stuck pretty good....lol. Is that a camo job or just touch up with whatever the could find? It looks pretty straight.
|
Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
It was someone's idea of camo. LOL. It was painted on using a paint brush.. The truck will literally need every body panel replaced either because of rust or some sort of damage..

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
Ya buddy! It will go fast now for a while. At least until I get it home and start fitting the motor, transmission, and wiring..
|
Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
Love the SB K10.
|
Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
The chassis looks really nice! Is that a red head gear box or just a top painted red like they do?
|
Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
It's a RedHead Quick Ratio Steering Gear. I have used these for years now. I absolutely love them. WES

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
Some beautiful work! Any idea on completion timeframe?
|
Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
It's looking great.

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
Thank you. I hoped to be driving it this summer, but now that looks a bit optimistic. I may get it done by fall, but I am not going to rush it. Too much time and energy has gone into this to try to do a hurried job to finish. WES

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
My Dad had a '59 station wagon with a dash like that.

Hotter than a firecracker today! But I still managed to get the rear air bags installed.... (Had to strap the front end down because the balancing point was too far back without an engine and front clip on it.) WES

I also fitted our custom boltless rear bumper. I had a lot of trimming in some areas and adding material in the corners. These rear bumpers wer designed for the puckups not the panels and suburbans. However I have the technology to make it work.. :sumo::metal:  WES

Re: I am getting excited about my Panel!!
