Thanks Keith! My wife complains about that same thing. I guess it's more common than we thought.

I wanted to go with bags because I plan on using the truck as a truck, which may occasionally include towing a load. I'm worried about the coils not holding up to towing a car (my next project in the future, when I get another). I'm leaving the frame as is so I don't weaken it with a c-notch, and I don't want to raise the bed floor so a step notch is out too. Since I don't plan on laying frame, I think it will be great! It should be low enough that it doesn't look goofy, but not so low that I need to modify the frame. I just wish I had more money so I could get the accuair i-level system in it. :waah:

Thanks! It's a repaint of the factory "medium blue". I think I'll keep it that color when I finally get to tearing into it to fix some of the poor body work. For now, I'm happy driving it like it is.

As a fellow ducks fan, I'm looking forward to this season! :metal: I was actually born in Eugene and grew up in Klamath Falls. Graduated from Oregon Tech too.

My rear bags, fittings, cups and air line came in today! :metal: A big thanks Travis of ProPerformance for the help and quick delivery. Too bad it's raining and I don't have garage space to install them tonight. :waah:

My Vintage Air kit showed up yesterday! I've got to figure out a good time to take the truck out of commission so I can do the install.

If you only lived closer I would say I'd help you out! But Rosenberg is a bit of a drive for me my friend.

Thanks Korwin, but it's not likely to happen until the summer is over anyway. We've been really busy at work these past few months and with a 3 month projection, we don't look like we're slowing down. Once I do get to it, it shouldn't be that hard to do. I already did a complete VA install on my GTO, so I know about what to expect. Plus the PO took all the factory heater stuff out already so I don't have to worry too much about disassembly.

No problem man! Well if it looks like you get some downtime after summer and everything when you plan to do it let me know maybe I can free up a weekend come see that beautiful car and truck of yours and give you a helping hand never put in an a/c but wouldn't mind learning.

Here's one of my other dog, Buddy. He's 10.5 years old and has arthritis now. He can't jump up in the bed of the truck. It's sad, but this is one of the best pictures I have of him lately. He's a great dog and has been our "first child" for 7 years. He's part of the family. He's a yellow lab, but has very little color to his coat. He's pretty much all white, with faint coloring on the tips of his ears and down the middle of his back. He really loves to be with us wherever we are, so when Kristen let him out in the garage when I was working on the fuel filler hole, he really wanted to see what I was up to. Kristen had to go get the camera, and I'm glad she did. Just look at the smile on our faces!

Awesome dog, I used to have a female that looked almost like Buddy. Really light yellow. She stayed with my ex wife when I moved away. ..

I want a chocolate now. Someday I will have one.

Went to a small car show today. Brought the GTO and the brother-in-law wound up bringing the truck down a couple hours later. Here are a couple pics of the two. GTO won best 60's. :metal:

My Porterbuilt 1" forward LCAs showed up yesterday. I've got to make a trip to Harbor Freight to buy a ball joint tool so I can get the ball joints installed when the time comes to make the swap. But I'm well on my way to having a better ride quality all around. :metal:

You can probably rent the tool at your local parts store.

I plan on doing a few of these over my lifetime so the tool kit might be a good investment. I'll look into rental prices though. If it's considerably cheaper then I'll go that route. Thanks for the suggestion.

I bought the a/c from laidbackrecreations during their July sale. List price for the VA system is $1395 on VA's website. I saved a bit of money though. :D PM Laidbackrecreations and see if they can give you a quote. They had a huge sale in July, so they might be able to give you the same deal since it's 1 day after. The LCAs were in the $600 range IIRC, but I bought them a couple of months ago so that price might not be accurate anymore.

Duane the lower ball joint can be a pain to get in.. I'd do the loaner over HF. You have to put some major force on it. Just about everything I have ever bought from HF breaks pretty quickly.

Thanks for the heads up Chad. I was a little worried about the quality, but thought I'd try it. You just saved me $70... minus the rental cost.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Hey Duane, on the VA kit doesn't it mount inside the cab under the dash or somewhere like that?

Reason I'm asking I'm going to eventually redo my a/c for my truck you know how Texas is  and I'm going be laying frame for my truck so I was going to have to get different a/c kit i was just curious on the set up for it.

Here's a link to their info page for the 67-72 GM truck kits: http://www.vintageair.com/67-72chevygmcpup.asp

I tried posting pics but they were huge when linked directly to their image. Go to the bottom of the page on the link above and click the pics. The evaporator is mounted under the dash, completely inside the cab behind the glove box. you'll lose most of the glove box because of this though.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Sweet thanks man! :metal:

I went on there website but couldn't really navigate around it, so that's why I asked. Yeah I have to figure out an alternative for me, because if I lay frame I'm going to get the slosh tubz mike makes and I'll have to relocate some stuff and you know how much of a importance it is for a/c in Texas. I can deal without a heater, I just want my a/c

Hey Chad, have you ever tried the OTC branded tool? Like this? this? Anyone else have any experience with this or know if it's worth $105, or would I still be better off renting the beat up tools from a parts store? They always seem worn out which is why I'm not leaning toward that option right now.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Autozone rents the OTC brand tool. I used it several times. You pay the retail price as a deposit and get a full refund when you return it so no real out of pocket expense as long as you bring it back ;)

BTW nice truck :metal: sub'd

It's been far too long since I've had an update. Unfortunately this isn't an update, but some news. Just turned 32 today and got some birthday cash so it looks like I'll be able to buy some more parts. If it would just cool off enough to be bearable to work on it... :waah:

Thanks guys!

Keith, I've spent most of my money on my GTO this time around. I'm in the middle of rebuilding tripower for the GTO so I bought some new valve covers and breathers for it. I did buy a cup holder for the truck though. A co-worker has a ferd super duty with cup holders attached to the front of the back seat. I thought it would be a good way to add cup holders to the C10 so I found this on ebay. Now I just need to get it, paint it and figure out a way to mount it to the seat.

I was screwing around for about 5 minutes with some photos I have and dropped in a crude shaker from a 73 trans am. What do you think of the idea?

:haha: Thanks for agreeing with me Chad. I'm leaning away from it. Maybe walking right now. The more I look at it, the more I think I'm running from it. I'll be sticking with a cowl or stock hood. It was an idea I had. Nobody said all ideas are good ideas.

CC69Rat 08-27-2013 05:52 PM

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

If you like it, I like it.. maybe if it was down into the hood a little more (?)

I have seen GTO (hint) Judge type scoops grafted onto a 67-68 style hood and it looked pretty good. Definitely different (I had never seen it anyway) He put the scoop part into the semicircular part of the hood on more of the side of the center section.. not sitting in top of the hood.

Hard to explain, I'll see if I can find a picture.
