somethin' in there...
Attachment 2000938Attachment 2000939

a couple seconds after this pic i was going over some rocks when i heard a slight snap. got out and looked, everything seemed alright, went to keep going and the truck headed straight for the edge and would'nt steer, something was jammed. after another closer inspection, noticed the idler arm was snapped, and it somehow hit the cv joint boot and ripped it off too.
once again i had to back down a mountain with little to no steering...quite often it would jam and i would have to go forward to un-jam it. drove it 30 miles home like that. was not bad as long as the road was fairly straight or had nice wide sweeping turns. it was the 90 degree ones that caused probs. would come around the corner, it would jam and head for the ditch or the curb. a couple people prob wondering what in hell i was doing, heading for the curb, stopping, and backing up against them to try un-jam it.
so it sits in the driveway till i get my income tax return to buy more parts.........

Nice work on the fridge install! Bummer about your steering but at least you picked a time to drive the crew when oil is under 30 bucks a barrel...

I remember the first time driving over the Nass River bridge! Was towing a travel trailer and the road was very narrow back then. Come around a corner through the trees and there it was! Not much for railings back then, just a timber curb. Not much time to get lined up straight either. I've seen recent pictures and it's like a super-highway now although still single lane.

Also a little farther north the first Bell-Irving bridge was a brand new steel replacement for what had apparently been an old log bridge down closer to the river. There was no deck at all on the bridge, just a pair of planks for tire tracks laid down on the steel beams! We pulled in and camped on a steep clearing just to the left on the south side. Drove the back wheels of the pickup up on some timbers to level the trailer. It's all filled in and/or grown over now, but the same round top steel bridge is still there.

That was all back in September 1977.

thanks MTCK!
ya, can't complain about fuel
dual 20's on the crew, last yr it cost me about $200-220 to fill up, yesterday it cost me $58 bucks to fill one tank- loving it!

my wife is deathly afraid of heights. more than 2 feet off the ground and she goes into panic mode...should have seen her on the open chair gondola lift at Banff the other yr...don't think any amount of talking or cajoling would ever get her on another open chair lift..

took the mutts up by Welch peak, weather was beauty-ous!

Looks like an awesome time. Later this summer I’m gonna try and take my K20 for a weekend trip up to my in-laws camp in the mountains here. I’ll have to add some pictures here if I do.

Sorry for your loss Dude. I can only imagine how you feel over getting news like that. But mountain runs are good therapy. It looks like a good time.

Gearing up for an overnighter up on a familiar trail we've done many times this weekend. I need to have a test run before we head to Utah next month. I need some mountain time myself. Between work and dealing with the virus business, it's going to be good to be off grid for a weekend.
