In all seriousness - I believe I have seen that photo described elsewhere as the end of line "Audit Area" at the Flint Assembly plant.

Makes sense, since Flint built both passenger cars and trucks in the same plant.

Random vehicles are selected as they come off the line and sent to a separate area of the plant, where they are scrutinized in great detail. The data is captured and published to Central Office, where it is reviewed by executives (who use it to decide where to build new products), and also to the other assembly plants (so they can see where they fall in the Quality rankings). You can see what looks like some run charts tracking the data posted on the wall.

Normally the audit was performed by hourly inspectors, but since these guys are wearing ties I would assume the are supervisors that have been called in to explain how some build errors made it this far and what they are going to do about it. Often the responsible assembler is brought back to rub his nose in it, or the entire group to meet surrounding the subject vehicle.

Pure speculation on my part, relative to the photo, but a very real scenario with regards to working in the assembly plant.

Nice insight there. One of my trucks has some serious original paint blems that somebody shoulda had their nose rubbed in. Ha!

Nice!
I want to live where the freight trains share the main street with the automobiles.

This photo has got me thinking. Don't recall ever seeing a '63 C 20 custom cab stock restoration over the last 10 years on this site. Kinda sad in a way.

What do you suppose the guy that is standing up is stealing off the pickup?

Wouldn't it be fun to get in the WayBack Machine w/ your tool bag & go parts shopping! Then mail the parts to yourself & go back to find them on your porch waiting for you!

Yes, great color combo!. GM ad people knew it would look great against the fancy mahogany cruisers (big boats) of the day. Nowadays, those boats are a tough sell. So elegant, yet so demanding for maintenance. Quite a bargain on the style points per dollar scale though. Love those wooden beauties!

Man the memories! In the early 60s my grand dad had a big 52 footer Cris-Craft, Teak & Mahogany. Two 430 Lincoln engines. It was kept at Go Day Marina in Guntersville Alabama. We used to get in those boats & three or four boat loads would go up the Tennessee river every summer around to the north side of Chattanooga to a place called Loret Villa & spend a week. There were Jukes all up & down the river, big dance floors & live bands & Bar B Q!
My Aunt like to have had a heart attack when it cost $70 to fill that boat up with gas!
Here's a photo of Loret from late 50's early 60's.
In the photo we used to dock on the long pier in the background where the large white boat is docked. Caught many fish offa that pier! At the end of the pier in the foreground was an island that I used to go over to & chase the ducks!
Thanks for letting me ramble!

Thanks!
Dad's truck was originally beige and white. He was in a fender-bender around 1966 and he had the truck painted to match the interior cab color "Saddle Fawn" you can see that in the pics from '72 (apparently he didn't like beige) Still got the camera somewhere - an old Bell & Howell 8mm.
